Beamer's not gonna be allowed on the team bus.  Fired by text in the locker room, is my guess.

Was the stadium empty in the 3rd quarter?  Looked pretty full to me. How many other teams could say that down that much?
Great 2nd half performance.  They looked unstoppable.  That QB is something when he gets going.

Is it better to avoid the CG and get healthy if you're already in the CPF at a 5-8 seed or higher?

Is it better to get a bye than play a home game in the CFP?  (Wasn't last year for sure.).

always better to win a conference championship if possible
I'd take the bye but the home game is worth some real $$$

lm guessing they didnt want to do anything until whatever NCAA penalties were handed down, so that they could (a) sell whatever coach on the full picture, and (b) have Moore in place as a scapegoat if things went bad.

The thing is, its not great, but its also not bad.  If there was some obvious target, then sure.  But is there?  And its not like they are going 5-7 and HAVE to do something
unfortunately I believe you nailed it. they are stuck in purgatory right now with a guy who clearly ain't it.

they had to promote him to keep the roster intact and it becoming a porthole shitshow and because of the looming NCAA cases. last year at 5-5 he might've lost his job but he ripped off 3 wins to close the season with a 50 point beatdown of Northwestern, beating Ohio State in Columbus, and Alabama in the bowl. 8-5 in Year 1 with literally not having a startable MAC caliber QB let alone B1G one and all that NCAA shit looming over his head- honestly not a terrible rookie season for first time ever head coach.

I still think he's clearly not the guy moving forward and is going to shit the bed vs Maryland this Saturday and get pantsed at home vs Ohio State- but if he doesn't embarrass himself next week and pulls off the upset yet again vs Ohio State and goes 10-2 in Year 2 with a true frosh QB after going 8-5 Year 1 with having no QB - going to be impossible to get rid of him. And as you said- there really isn't an obvious candidate out there to dump him and go get. Unless of course Urbz is willing to coach Michigan.

Maryland suffered its sixth consecutive loss this weekend, falling 24-6 to Illinois. On Sunday, Maryland athletic director Jim Smith told ESPN that Mike Locksley will continue as the Terrapins’ head coach in 2026 and the school plans to significantly increase financial support for the program.

“We are working to strengthen our NIL support for 2026 and beyond, and have already seen success for next year,” Smith told ESPN. “We are prioritizing roster retention, recruiting and competing in the transfer portal.”

I would be very happy if my team won 10+ games and the conference championship in any season.  I would consider it a highly successful season.

10 wins and a playoff spot or the season was a failure. that should be the standard and new normal for the helmets. most years anything less than that is unacceptable.

I said something to this effect when my Longhorn wife was in distress about losing to UGA again.  I said it was the circle of life.

Whatever she was looking to me to say to make her feel better, that wasn't it.
