Listening to a CFB podcast, and that's the first I heard mentioned anywhere that FSU-Miami are playing this week.  Not even thrown into the list of games here.  I had to look it up to confirm, and yup, 3:30 on ABC.

My goodness how times have changed.

Wow, I didn't realize that until you posted it just now.  HUGE change from a few years ago but nobody outside of Florida really cares when a 3-3/4-4 ACC Atlantic team plays a 2-3/4-4 ACC Coastal team.

Speaking of their ACC records, the ACC races couldn't be more different.  Clemson leads the ACC Atlantic by a mile.  They are 6-0 while their closest competitor is 2-1 Wake.  Next is 3-2 Louisville but the Cardinals already lost to the Tigers so the best they could do is a 3-way tie with Clemson and Wake and I am not going to bother to look up the ACC's tiebreaker for that.

The ACC Coastal is a mess.  Here are the standings:
  • 3-2 Virginia
  • 3-2 North Carolina
  • 2-2 VaTech
  • 2-2 Pitt
  • 2-3 Dook
  • 2-3 Miami
  • 1-3 GaTech
All seven teams are within one game of each other in the loss column and literally all of them are still mathematically alive.  I'm rooting for a 7-way tie in the ACC Coastal!

FWIW:
The co-leaders (UVA and UNC) play this weekend in Chapel Hill.  The winner will move to 4-2 and be alone in first place but their lead will not be insurmountable.  Looking at them against the other two 2-loss teams:
  • UVA beat Pitt but doesn't play VaTech until Thanksgiving weekend.
  • UNC lost to VaTech and plays Pitt next Thursday in Pittsburgh.
In terms of the race:
  • 3-2 UVA controls their own destiny because they already beat Pitt and have opportunities to beat UNC and VaTech.
  • 3-2 UNC needs VaTech to lose
  • 2-2 VaTech controls their own destiny because they already beat UNC and have opportunities to beat UVA and Pitt.
  • 2-2 Pitt needs UVA to lose
  • The 3-loss teams need each of the 2-loss teams to lose at least once
This could be LOTS of fun!

FSU - Miami, and I also was unaware that game was this weekend.  And it's a light weekend with basically one headliner.

Utah at Washington is notable.

this isn't getting much reaction either................

Alabama continues to beef up its future nonconference schedules, with the Crimson Tide on Thursday announcing a home-and-home series with Florida State for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

Alabama will play in Tallahassee on Aug. 30, 2025, with Florida State visiting Tuscaloosa the next season on Sept. 19, 2026.

Bama just refuses to play home and homes against real teams.

It might turn out to be a pair of great games, but FSU isn't very beefy these days.
FSU has become one of those programs that might be good when you play them, but might be pretty crappy.
OU playing UCLA this year and last is an example of "they might be pretty good when we play them" wishful thinking.

I see they still refuse to leave the SEC footprint in the regular season.

Did not Bama agree to a home and home series with Wisconsin?  Or did I dream that?

At least they are getting off the one NS game sets.

The schools announced Monday the teams will play in Madison, Wisconsin, on Sept. 14, 2024. They'll meet in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on Sept. 13, 2025. Wisconsin and Alabama have split their only two meetings. The Crimson Tide won 35-17 in the 2015 opener in Arlington, Texas.Jul 29, 2019

If they don't back out of this, then I stand corrected. However, I cannot remember the last time they left the footprint of the SEC for a non-post season game.

2011.

Since that time, they have played nearly all (or all) neutral site games.  They are obviously moving away from that model.
