I had my first draft Octoberfest on Friday night.  I like the psychological act of willing an end to these 90 degree temps and usher out the summer with a few brews.  Bring on autumn.
Ya wasn't too bad of a summer until the last almost 2 weeks.95 yesterday following low 90's for 3 straight then 89 & rain and the sun pops out.Now a steam bath.As long as we don't plunge right into the '50's 😎.Then it can stay 60-70 until T-Giving

It has been a pretty nice summer here, decent rain fall, a few days were pretty hot, most have been OK like today.

Not sure what everyone's preference is? I never thought individual game threads received quite enough replies, though obviously easier to keep those sorted. In any event, I'll start a thread with the schedule, makes for a good midweek SOC at least.

Thursday

6:30, BTN, Temple at Rutgers
8, Fox, OSU at Minnesota

Friday
9 pm, ESPN, MSU at Northwestern

Saturday
Noon, ESPN, Western Michigan at Michigan
Noon, Fox, PSU at Wisconsin
Noon, BTN, Fordham at Nebraska
3:30 ESPN, West Virginia at Maryland
3:30, BTN, Indiana at Iowa
7 pm, FS1, Oregon State at Purdue
7:30, BTN, UTSA at Illinois

Others on Saturday

3:30, ABC, Alabama at Miami U
7:30, ABC, Georgia at Clemson
8 pm, FOX, LSU at UCLA

That's a pretty danged fun Saturday, BTW, in conference and out. Very happy Wiscy and PSU are on at noon, then Iowa-Hoosiers, then everyone can tune into Clemson Georgia.
OU is scheduled to play Tulane in New Orleans.  That's surely not going to happen, but whether the game location will be moved or it will be rescheduled is TBA.

The line is Michigan by around 17, which I think is too high. Western Michigan was a decent team last year (finished ahead of Michigan in the advanced stats), had a great offense and a bad defense. But they return a lot of experience. Not the type of patsy you want to face when you are trying to figure things out.
honestly, would not be shocked to see Michigan barely win- or even lose.

i have literally zero faith in Jim Harbaugh.

I'll be at the New Brickhouse on Thursday and the Minnesota State Fair on Saturday.

My mom is showing at the Fair next Sunday, for what will most likely be her final time. The first time her and her siblings rode at the Fair was 1965.

I looked at tickets in Charlotte for UGA-Clemmons and thought "nah".

They aren't that high, but I'd have to stay in a motel etc.  I'll watch on my nice TV and drink a nice bottle of wine.

My "nice" TV is showing its age, which is not a shock, but I'm not ready to bite on a new one yet.  It's a 65" 1 K and quite decent of course, but I do oogle those 80" OLEDs at Costco each time we enter.  And I realize they are being fed very high res images.

Interesting slate of week one games: On Thursday, Rutgers opens with a win, Ohio State should be too much for Minnesota. On Friday, I don’t know what to expect from Northwestern and MSU, so it will be educational, and might be a good game. On Saturday, Michigan had better win, or Harbaugh will get the “Scott Frost Treatment”. Penn State visits Wisconsin in one of the weekend’s best games, PSU wins this historically, but Wisconsin is expecting a good season, with Penn State coming off a disappointing year. I think Nebraska beats the Fordham Rams, or else. West Virginia visits Maryland, in a battle of two teams with ACC roots. We see if last year was a fluke, or can Indiana really visit a quality Iowa team, and come away with a win? Oregon State visits Purdue. Illinois hosts UTSA, can Bert do it again?

In other games, Georgia faces Clemson in a “neutral site” contest in Charlotte, NC, that Georgia had better win, or David Pollack needs to shut his mouth, forever. Alabama should beat Miami. In an interesting contest, UCLA hosts LSU. UCLA has the benefit of a game, appears improved, and has good offensive and defensive lines. LSU is distracted by hurricane Ida, so they might be in trouble, if UCLA can get some fans in the seats.

Did Pollack pick UGA to win easily or something?  I think they are 3-4 point dogs.

Georgia football legend David Pollack makes prediction for Clemson game (fansided.com)

When looking at the Clemson football schedule for 2021, former Georgia football star David Pollack believes the Tigers will drop their season opener to his Dawgs in Charlotte on Labor Day Weekend.

While he was not as blunt as his ESPN colleague Joey Galloway was about Clemson losing, he too does not believe Clemson will hit the over on its win total of 11.5 victories for the season.

I'm pretty sure it has zero impact on the game.  These guys are guessing, for ratings, if they all just toed "the line" they'd be boring.  whatever they say is irrelevant.

UGA is a four point dog, that is about as solid a predictor as I can imagine from anywhere.
