I often wonder if we could have bolted when Arkansas did in '91/92(?).  Also remember that in that time period A&M was playing some of it's best football ever.  I think we could have easily taken USCe's spot from that time and got in the "original" 12 team league.
Back in '91 the SEC wasn't really looking at A&M.  They wanted Arkansas and Texas.  In fact Frank Broyles was certain that Texas was moving along with them and was shocked when it didn't happen.  It almost did happen.

Years later the SEC wanted A&M and A&M wanted the SEC and it worked out well for all parties.

Bullshit

Everybody knows Nebraska was defecting to the B1G, and that's what sent the rest of the conference scuttling to find a soft landing.

Absolutely the worst kept secret in college football history.

Absolute bulljive.  Don't believe everything Tom Osborne said.  He was playing politics.  I mean, he's literally a politician.

ETA-- And yes of course Texas contacted the PAC, and the B1G, and the SEC.  After it was known Nebraska was defecting.

Lulzno

And even if they were, the masses of message board dipshits being on your side, isn't much of a recommendation.

Anyway, it's neither here nor there.  Nebraska got exactly what it wanted, I guess.  More money.
