So what will the new AP Poll look like?

  • Ohio State
  • Penn State
  • Georgia
  • LSU
  • Texas
Maybe?
I wasn't too far off.  The AP voters have LSU/UGA flipped from what I have and, unsurprisingly, they over-punished Texas for a one-score road loss to the new #1.

it's silly, win a game like that and move up 1.  Lose that game on the road and drop like a rock

This is a long-time pet-peeve of mine.  If Ohio State is #1 and that is certainly a fair assumption in the context of THEIR poll since that is what THEY voted, then losing to them at their place by one score in a very competitive game shouldn't cause much of a drop.

I'd feel a little different if Ohio State had held a 2-score lead for most of the 4th quarter and Texas scored their lone TD in the closing minutes against a prevent defense but that isn't what happened.  As an Ohio State fan, I only really felt comfortable twice in this game:
  • When it appeared that Ohio State had intercepted Manning while leading 14-0 in the 4th quarter.  At that point I thought ok, a couple first downs gets us a FG and a three-score lead and even without that, a few first downs bleeds enough clock to put them in desperation mode.
  • After Manning's last pass went for 3 yards on 4th and 5.

This board needs more OCD...

I think another great Ben Franklin quote was something along the lines of avoiding 'foolish intrigue with low women. '
