One issue I think is that some very public CC "zealots" consistently over state the perils of CC (relative to what the IPCC claims anyway).  They keep talking about billions starving, the Arctic being ice free "soon", sea levels swamping NYC, blaming every drought/flood/hurricane/storm on CC,  etc., and none of that is really in the offing "soon".  So, they lose credibility (duh), which would be fine except the "real CC" (according to the models) is still extant, just very slow.  It's still a potential problem, just not one that shows up in a few years decisively.

The Arctic MIGHT be mostly ice free at some point in a decade, maybe.  But just because the loudmouths are wrong doesn't itself mean the concept is wrong, they just over state it for dramatic effect and in so doing damage their cause.

Yes, and many of the townspeople seem to mistakenly think there's not, because the most dire of predictions haven't come true.

The actual scientific predictions have largely happened, if you believe the figures.  What hasn't happened is some drastic sea level rise, for example, because that isn't predicted, maybe it would be significant in 70 years or so.  I think Al Gore turned this political and any chance of having rational policies ended with that.

Contrary to common belief, it's actually cow belching caused by a process called enteric fermentation that contributes to methane emissions.

Has anyone lowered their predictions (again)?

Not that I've seen.

We're coming up on the 3 year anniversary of Ian.

Helene formed a year ago today in the Western Carribean and made landfall on 9/26.

Milton then formed on 10/5 in the Gulf and made landfall on 10/9.

We're not out of the woods yet.

Nope, things COULD heat up (!) from here, but often "they" change their prediction up or down midway through to reflect "reality".  I still don't think their predictions are really worth much.

I'd wait until mid-December and make my own.

Obviously, a quiet season halfway through would suggest statistically a quieter full season more than what they predicted.
