<<raises hand>>

I put a whole list of departments and agencies upthread. It's sickening to look at.

Education, created under one of the worst presidents ever, would be my first cut.

Homeland security, also created by one of the worst presidents ever. Let's talk about what that agency is. 250,000 people work within it.

Amen brother, you're preaching to the choir.

While I agree in theory, we have the MW, and it's simply not going away.  My idea is to set it at the highest point it's ever been in history adjusted for inflation, and attach a COLA.

I don't know how much of the going costs of a McDs are labor versus materials and rent etc.  Maybe it's 25%?
With attitudes like that it won't. But let me ask you, why can't it go away?

A Fed min wage makes no sense. The cost of living across the country varies so much that it is effectively useless. The cost of living in Huntington West Virginia is no where near the cost of living in San Francisco. So why would the fed worry about the MW being the same in both places?

Let the states set their own MW and keep the fed out of it. And if a state decides to eliminate it, great. They will either like the results or reinstate a MW if they don't get the desired results. But why should the fed gov't have one? It makes no sense.

Obviously, it hasn't gone away, even under a Reagan or Trump Presidency.  It's political, anyone saying they want to do away with the MW will get pilloried politically.  Some in conservative safe seats can talk about it.  Zero democats would be for it.  And Republicans in unsafe seats won't talk about it or vote it out.

It's here to stay.  And yes, not many folks work for MW now.

A lot of apparently good ideas just won't happen.  They might be fun to discuss, but the political landscape precludes them from being actionable.  Term limits in Congress is one of them.  A Balanced Budget Amendment is another.  Cutting the size of Federal government is another, aside from maybe some hand waving.  Trump promised to cut two regulations for every new one, sounds great right?  Never happened.  Optics at best.

On my list of wonky things that are real:

How Congress would decide the presidency if there’s an Electoral College tie | The Hill

In the event that neither Trump nor Biden receives the necessary 270 electoral votes, the election would move to the House of Representatives, which elects the president by giving each state delegation one vote.

A majority of each state’s House delegation would decide who receives the state’s vote. So if a majority of a state’s House members are Republican, Trump would likely receive that vote, and if a majority of a state’s House members are Democratic, Biden would likely receive that vote.

If a state’s delegation is evenly divided between the parties and the state’s representatives are deadlocked, the state would not vote.

The Senate would elect the vice president, with each senator casting one vote until one candidate reaches 51 votes. So if a majority of the Senate is Democratic, Harris — who’s almost certain to be the official vice presidential nominee once again — would likely win, and if Republicans flip the Senate, whoever Trump chooses as his running mate would win.

The above is unlikely of course, but we COULD have President Trump and Vice President Harris.

Let the mayhem ensue.

Now that would be something.

I don't think he'd let her out of her house.

Most of the jobs that HS kids around here work, pay higher than minimum wage.  More like $12-$15/hour, so double minimum wage.
