Was it God or Was it Ditka: Week 6 Thread
« on: Today at 04:01:37 PM »
Still in the high of fall weather in Ohio. Warm days, cool nights, and the leaves are ever so slowly turning color. It's another high school football game tonight for me, as Westerville North has homecoming. For some reason, they scheduled Big Walnut for homecoming. They are 7-0 and ranked 8th in the state, so I predict a running clock in the second half.

Hopefully the college football is more entertaining than this game promises to be.

Schedule

  • 9 pm Friday, #20 Iowa at Washington, FOX
  • Noon, #7 Indiana at Nebraska, FOX
  • 12:30 pm, Ball State at Northwestern, BTN
  • 3:30 pm, #21 UCLA at #13 Oregon, CBS
  • 3:30 pm, Illinois at MSU, FS1
  • 4:15 pm, Maryland at #5 OSU, BTN
  • 7:30 pm, #19 USC at Penn State, NBC
  • 8 pm, Minnesota at Purdue, BTN
Others
  • Noon, TAMU at #14 Mizzou, ABC
  • 3:30 pm, #1 Texas v. Oklahoma, ABC
  • 7 pm, #10 LSU at Kentucky, ESPN
  • 7:30 pm, #2 Georgia at #6 Alabama, ABC

You serious,Clark ?
Wasn't Big Walnut Tech a fictitious School in the old Funky Winkerbean comic strip?

Well maybe, but they are very much real now. Their QB is pledged to MSU... I'll scout for ELA.

Is it me, or is Warshingon just a big purple blob of whatever-the-hell?  Not a knock exactly, but they're never super good or terrible.  I know they had a 1-10 like 15 years ago and made a 4-team playoff appearance, but maybe since then, they're just basically college football purgatory, right?
And even more so in the B1G.

I mean they played for the national championship like three years ago. Lot of programs would like that.

The creator of Funky Winkerbean, Tom Baituk, lives in Medina.

The title character of one of his other strips, Crankshaft was a bus driver as was my dad so we always joked that Crankshaft was based on my dad.

In my office I have a cartoon that Tom Baituk did of me for our local paper back in 2001.

To my knowledge, Ferentz has never won a regular season game West of Lincoln. So we got that going for us...

They made two 4 team playoffs, and beat Texas to advance to the championship in one of them

FSU looked pretty good early when it looked like they might go up 21-0

Hecklinski got the start for Iowa at QB since Hank Brown is banged up.

Heck not looking great at QB but the Iowa running game is clicking early, helped by some bad tackling by Washington.   Iowa up 13-0 at end of 1Q.
We are all equal but some are more equal than others.
