or if I want to attend a Hawkeye watch party this afternoon - the fellas there will have pork ribs on the pellet smoker
My pellet pooper crapped out on me last night. Throwing some sort of error code.

Luckily I was able to fire up the little kamado real quick and get my pork tenderloins cooked.

Tonight is some carne asada on the big kamado for tacos.

Tomorrow is 3 racks of ribs smoked on the big kamado to celebrate my wife's b-day with the kids... Her b-day isn't until next weekend and I'll be making her annual request (filet and a baked potato) for that, but she requested ribs with the kids since they're here this weekend.

I'm all about that spaghetti with Bolognese.  Chaos!

Tonight my isc&a aggie wife and I are going out to dinner for my birthday.  We have outdoor reservations at a Northern Italian (not American-Italian) restaurant, where I've had the branzino and it's fantastic.  I'll likely be choosing between that, and their braised short ribs.
Happy birthday, 94!

Not 50 yet, right?

Any time I see short ribs on a menu I order it.  That and pork belly.
I find pork belly to be hit and miss - if it's good it's really good, but if it isn't cooked right it can be pretty gross
As with many things, maybe it's one of those things that you have to do it yourself if you want it done right.

A smoker and some pork belly is all you need for poor man's burnt ends. Which are amazing.

Happy birthday, utee!

Badge, you got a good Bolognese sauce recipe? Eating pasta with bolognese while in Bologna was one of the highlights of our honeymoon.
But of course. I'll post it up in the recipe thread soon. You'll also need my homemade marinara recipe.

Not quite, that one's next year.  We're planning a Europe trip for next summer to celebrate.  We'll see if that happens, I'm not so optimistic right now but I guess ya never know.  If not, we'll probably hit the Caribbean.

Thanks to all for the birthday wishes.  As always, since my bday falls on Pearl Harbor day, I ask all of my friends and neighbors to think about the tragedy of that day, the horrors of war, the sacrifices of our veterans, and Hope for peace and a better world.

OSU missing a big chunk of their oline.  No Thayer Munford, Josh Myers, Nicholas Petite-Frere, or Paris Johnson.  That's their center and top three tackles.  Also missing Josh Proctor, which is another big loss in the secondary.  Going to be a slog.

And yeah, I love braised short ribs but I do them fairly often myself, and fairly well if I do say so.

But there are three things it's hard for me to pass up on a menu:

Rabbit stew
Duck
Foie gras

I love them all, and rarely cook them myself, so I'll fall for them quickly if I see them.

Man, Michigan.  Watching the Fox pregame show and Brady Quinn was talking up Rashad Weaver, DE for Pitt.  Called him the best defensive player in America and will be a top 20 draft pick.  And I'm like, I recall that name.  So I google him, and he is one of those guys that was committed to Michigan forever but who Harbaugh dropped at the last second.  Whoops.

That’s a big fat ouch! Also missing their stall wart middle linebacker Tuf Borland.

The fans like to beat on him but just watch as the coaches who watch the film will vote him as all Big Ten this year. He has been nothing short of special this year

Well, we’ll see just how much depth means for Ohio State today.

Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.

I know I seem to be the resident pedant at times but I can't let this slide without comment.    Why is there a common tendency for folks to add an 's' to Kroger?

I hear this often, same with 'Meijers' among others stores which do not end in an 's'.
Of course we take pleasure and enjoy intentionally omitting an 's' from a certain conference member.

Heh good question.  I do it all the time - Krogers, Meijers, Aldis, Penneys, whatever.
