Learned this year that they have a high school girls fight football championship in that city. Played on the same field just before the boys game at a weird time.
Girls fight football?

perhaps Rutgers should cut their losses and drop out of the B1G?
That would be someone cutting their losses....

Well then. CFB can make a nice little Faustian bargain.

Go back even just 20 years and you couldn't invent worse mismanagement of the sport.

Problem is, you can't call it mismanagement, because no one is managing it.

Apparently it's signing day, which used to mean something.

The owner/content producer of one of the prominent LSU sites was recounting today how he used to go to campus in BR for the Signing Day Bash where he'd set up under a big banner with his website printed on it and hand out one thousand of his newly released list of Louisiana's Top 100 Prospects for the next year, and report on signees as papers were faxed in.  It was a big deal, lots of people every year, where he'd greet hundreds of fans and swap stories.  He says it was by far the single biggest event of the year for his website, routinely producing traffic spikes he wouldn't see again until the next NSD.

Today it barely causes a ripple.  LSU, having signed 14 players during the early signing period, having brought in 42 transfers (quick pause for me to throw up a little bit in my mouth), is only expected to sign two players today.  He didn't say if he even bothers going to campus anymore, but from the rest of what he wrote, I gather he's not there today.  It's not a big bump for his web traffic, and really, there's no reason to be there if just two guys are all you're waiting for.

I hadn't really thought about it until he mentioned it....how much I used to like refreshing his web page throughout the day.  It was exciting.

It's not just the product on the field that's being ruined for me.  The whole ethos is taking a hit, as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah MSU's lone commit who hadn't signed, a 4* WR who visited Alabama, and is a PSU legacy, decided to stick with his MSU commitment, and signed today.

I thought that was kind of weird timing, which is how I even learned it was signing day

Unless it's a blue chip recruit that will contribute immediately like Chris Henry Jr, I really don't care. The ones that ride the pines will be at Louisville the next year.

Fax machine....boy that's a technological holdover.  I still get regularly asked my fax number, of which I have none.

Seems so counterproductive compared to scanner/email.

Fax is more secure than email, so it's still pretty common in the medical industry.  My Physical Therapist i s c & a aggie wife maintains a fax# so that she can communicate securely with doctors, patients, patient portals, hospitals, etc.

It's all still digital so it looks and reads like email, but the transmission protocol is that of the the fax which offers easier paths to secure communication.

Yep, same for all the clinics around here.  I faxed patient referrals to all specialists both locally and to Houston.  When they sent us back clinical records, it was by fax.  Still the standard way they receive referrals, even at cutting edge places like MD Anderson.

Everything goes to a fax server, so utee94 is correct, it all functions similar to email on our screens.  But it's coming over the phone lines.

So you're telling me it's a virtual fax?  Like you have a phone number, but it's not an actual phone line, and the "fax" is really just software?  Now I'm really confused...LOL.
