Andy Staples and Ari had Cole Cubelic on their podcast to talk about the Auburn coaching search.

He said off the top, he hates in season firings.  He gets it, but he hates it.  He said if you are blessed enough to play D1 football, that should be a top 5 moment in your life, and this becomes a bunch of people out the door.

And that he's all for the players getting paid.  Money is flying everywhere.  But the other side of that, is that this becomes a job.  That they have to get this movement figured out.  And that it has to include the coaches.  There is no reason a kid should miss out on a one time pay day, but there has to be a way to do it without making all of these 20 years managing a a bunch of different moving parts.

To me the one solution is college football and college basketball breaking away, with some sort of CBA.  That the NLI includes a 4 year NIL contract.  All contracts have an out for 3 reasons.   #1 Your coach leaves, #2 your coach is fired, #3 transfer.  However, it's a player only out.  Put back in the 1 year sit out rule, but with no eligibility restrictions.  You want to pay a dude to transfer.  Go for it.  But you are paying for him to sit for a year.  But if you are a bust, you keep getting paid as the recruit you are.

Same as the NFL, you can hold out if you have outperformed your contract.  Maybe you sit out til the NFL.  Maybe the boosters put up some extra money for you to play.  It's not NIL that has ruined college sports, its the immediate transfers

Social media is "abuzz" with rumors about Tech moving back.  I don't put much credence into it.

I don't know that much about Tech, but how does that make sense on any level?  Until this current season, GT was generally a bad to mid team with not much of a fan-base or TV draw.

Not good,no development or recruiting, eff it all hope it all swirls the drain, screw the coaches and players. At least set up a pay scale by performance/achievement.Turn this all over to the NFL.

Honestly, A&M tried the same thing a few years ago and it totally blew up, hardly any of the players worked out.  Talent =/= Winning, sometimes.
