Nice week one lineup.  I don't have any particular angst directed at ND or Miami.

ND is supposed to be good this year, Miami?  Not expected to be.

CSC to be shot down in the courts in 3... 2...
Yup.  The first time they try to limit a deal will be the first time the courts tear them down.

Probably not.  They moment the committee tries to shoot something down as not being "fair market value" they've entered into a legal universe where they can't realistically govern.

it's about collectives not being real businesses
just laundering money

Doesn't matter.  If the collective pays someone a million dollars to appear at children's hospitals and read stories to them, and the committee asserts that's not fair market value, they've just entered into a legal world where it's not likely they're going to win.  Every single time it happens, it's immediately going to court.  A committee from some consulting firm doesn't get to control money paid to private citizens.

If those private citizens entered into a collective bargaining agreement that allowed such limitation, it could be different.  But that hasn't happened yet, and for a multitude of reasons, is highly unlikely to happen.

it's unlikely to happen but I feel like unionizing the players, signing employment contracts, and a CBA- basically a true NFL Lite is the only thing that could save the sport from this wild wild west era it's in.

When if ever might the NFL remove its rule about 3 years after HS to be a player?

That COULD be a major change if it happened.

Yeah I agree.  I've never wanted college football to become NFL Lite but at this point it's probably the only thing that would save it.

Even then, though, it would only "save" it for fans of the top schools, the helmets/marquee teams, the Kings and Knights.

As folks like bwar have pointed out, the sport is already basically dead for fans like him.

Thus far, the NFL has been delighted to enjoy the benefits of having a minor league farm system that is entirely free.

The only thing better than a free minor league farm system, is one that actually makes money.

So, I suspect that if/when they figure out they can make money from a minor league NFL system, then they'll change their rules.  That would of course gut the talent level at the college level but I'm not sure it's going to matter because I think the sport is going to implode before we get to that point.

Bu "imploding", do you mean something specifically, or just generally it's going to lose "our" interest and become secondary?
