The funny thing is they drive the checks.  So they don't need to stop accepting the checks, they could just refuse, and Big Noon would go away.  The Big Ten doesn't do anything that OSU and UM don't sign off on. 

But the checks would be smaller

But that's the entire point.

It's not you, but for at least a decade and a half, I've heard fans of B1G teams on this board, and those that preceded it, crow and boast about how much more money the B1G makes compared to other conferences.

Well, this is the price, this is what it costs when you pay the piper.  You have to take the good with the bad.  Refuse Big Noon and now you're not making as much money, you're less competitive, perhaps you don't get to say you make the most anymore.

That's the price of playing their game.

Yeah, it's just the helmets who complain about it.  They aren't just cashing the checks, they are the ones agreeing to it for the larger checks.  If OSU and UM said no more Big Noon, there would be no more Big Noon.  So UM and OSU fans can stop complaining, they are the drivers behind whatever tv agreements the conference makes

And the funny thing is that there is the other side to the coin.  It's not like they just added a noon game.  It means more shitty games are shuffled into BTN and FS1 prime time.  MSU didn't play a single noon game last year, and 6 of their first 8 games were in prime time, and most of them were crap.  I assume other mid-tier programs are in the same spot, where ticket sales are heavily dependent on game time and opponent.  Playing FAU in prime time on BTN, because Michigan and Texas are playing at noon on FOX, ain't great.  But again, the check clears, so shut up, but unlike UM and OSU, they aren't actually driving anything, they are just along for the ride.  I'm sure MSU could swap to the MAC and play all the noon games they wanted.
