@Drew4UTk , an "LoL" button would be a great addition. I "liked" this but "LoL" would have been more appropriate.

These two are so similar that I cannot tell the difference.

Army-Navy rivalry game will no longer be stand-alone matchup under new bowl schedule

College sports are going through major changes throughout the sport. That extends into the College Football Playoff and bowl season. With that, the schedule is getting changed and Army-Navy is no longer going to be a standalone matchup.

Under the new bowl schedule, the Cricket Celebration Bowl is set to kickoff at 12:00 p.m. ET. That comes before the Army-Navy Game will be played at 3:00 p.m. or the traditional time slot for the game. Later, the Camellia Bowl is going to be played at 9:00 p.m. Those changes came because of a shift in the bowl schedule.

If they hadn't agreed to wear alternate jerseys to sell for about the past 15 years, I'd feel slightly worse about it

It's only recently been on a "standalone" date anyway, it's not like there's a hundred years of history behind that.

I don't think there's a 100 years of history remaining in a tradition for anything in college athletics any longer

TX-OU has been played in the Cotton Bowl for almost 100 years, since 1930.

Even the 100 year tradition of Michigan fans talking about their last national championship is dead :57:

They could try, current contract runs through 2036.

But in reality, they bought Texas and OU specifically for the branding they can bring to the conference.  It would make zero financial sense to attack what will become one of the crown jewels of the SEC season.

The reasons my dad, and his dad loved college football, are the same reason I loved college football.  And that's why my son barely cares, and would rather just watch the NFL or baseball.  I can't blame him.  Me trying to convince him why the Cotton Bowl and Rose Bowl (stadiums, not games) matter is a losing battle, and I don't blame him.

since we don't have a death of hockey thread..........

BRAMPTON, Ontario (AP) — All four ice rinks at Susan Fennell Sportsplex are full of action on this winter Saturday morning, the air filled with the sound of hockey skates grinding through ice and pucks clanging off the glass.

The scene is as familiar as the sunrise in countless rinks across Canada. Hockey remains a beloved pastime, a source of pride and joy and something that has knitted the vast nation together for more than 150 years.

Behind the scenes of the goals and celebrations is an alarming trend: Youth hockey participation in the cradle of the sport has decreased by nearly a quarter over the past decade and a half, a decline that began well before the pandemic from a peak of over half a million kids taking part as recently as 2010.

Because of growing costs for everything from equipment and ice time to specialized coaching and travel programs, families are choosing other sports like soccer and basketball over hockey. There are concerns about the future of grassroots hockey in the country that has nourished it into the popular, vibrant sport that is seeing growth elsewhere, including the United States.

Gonna move it to Jacksonville.
