Yes, Michigan said it wants to throw the ball more but they're a run first team.  ECU's DL is decent and they sold out trying to stop the run.  I don't think that's the case with UNLV.
they claim they are not going to be run first anymore. they have said they are looking for balance and to be 50/50. well if that is the case- they need to rep the passing game the first 4 weeks of the season and get it into a well-oiled machine before the season really starts which is week 5 @Nebraska.

he's got so much high level NFL arm talent and has excellent athleticism for the position...you saw flashes of it as a true frosh in spots when they would play him and you saw flashes of it last year but he was so inconsistent last year- and a lot of that was due to inexperience, dealing with a shoulder injury, and not having bowl practices, not having a spring ball, and being in a QB comp in the fall not getting those #1 reps going into his soph season. Well he's healthy, had all those bowl practices, had a spring ball, and fall camp and got all the #1 reps and wasn't in a competition.

He's too talented to waste....they have to keep developing the passing game...doing him a huge disservice if he's not throwing another 30+ pass attempts per game these next 3 games. only way they're going to develop it is if they rep the F##K out of it vs live bullet and actual competition...only so much development you can do in practice...

Have to see him build on week 1 and have to see more of this:

JJ looked excellent, again. He looks so much more comfortable. Seeing the field better. Reading things pre-snap better. Changing protections and calling audibles- he wasn't really doing that last year. Going through his progressions and throwing with timing and anticipation so much better- which in turn has helped improve his accuracy. This is all stuff he wasn't doing last year- even vs the bad teams. He looks to have legitimately taken a leap. Wish they would've let him throw just a little bit more. He looks on the same page with all his WRs, and he seems to really be forging a connection with Roman Wilson.

Blake looks fine. Patience, vision, balance- looks great. Little bit concerned with Donovan Edwards- he's not seeing the holes develop nor even waiting, keeps pressing every time they get him the ball. Apparently he missed all of fall camp basically and may take a few weeks to get up to speed...I do like how they are using him in the slot and as a decoy though- that's going to pay dividends down the road- keep sprinkling him in the pass game and as a decoy

OL a little bit of a concern. Run blocking that is, not pass blocking. The RT Myles Hinton is just not good at run blocking. He looks like he should be a top 10 overall draft pick. He plays nothing like that. He's bad. Little bit worried about him- and they haven't let Trente Jones or LaDarius Henderson get a crack to replace Hinton. New center looks good, but he's just not Olu Oluwatimi- doesn't have the grown ass man strength to blow people off the los like Oluwatimi.

Front 7 is going to be really good. Kris Jenkins and Mason Graham are both studs, but we knew that already. Kenneth Grant is looking like he is going to better than either of them- Grant straight up looks like a Baby Jordan Davis from UGA. He's freakishly big and moves freakishly well for someone that freakishly big. Rayshaun Benny has looked good too, they are 4 deep with legitimate NFL draft talent/picks at DT with those 4 guys. All four them are high quality B1G starting caliber DT's- and all of them have prototype size and strength to create a suffocating run wall. Ernest Hausman the transfer portal guy from Nebraska already looks like their best LB- which is a little crazy bc Junior Colson is really freaking good. Michael Barrett is going to wind up being the 3rd LB'er in that rotation before mid-season, which isn't a bad spot to be in if you're Michigan. They have 4 dudes at EDGE that can play. Derrick Moore, Josaiah Stewart, Jaylen Harrell, and Braiden McGregor could all start. The fact that they can just keep sending 4 DTs and 4 EDGE guys in waves is a great thing for this defense- going to keep them fresh. Derrick Moore....watch out...that guy is coming. I picked McGregor to lead this team in sacks, flipping my pick to Moore. Jaylen Harrell is just a really underrated all-around swiss army knife EDGE defender that is an excellent run defender, good at pass coverage, and good at rushing the passer- he just does it all well. Stewart has ridiculous quickness and speed around the EDGE. McGregor flashed as well- he made an insane play on a run defense in large part bc of his length- he's just so tall and long-armed- he looks exactly like you'd want an EDGE to look- 6'6, 265+ with 34" arms.

Secondary- not much to glean at all. Starters Rod Moore and Makari Paige- out. Backup FS Zeke Berry- out. Will Johnson played like 10 snaps. And the front 7 dominated an overmatched UNLV OL they just never had a shot to attempt a passing game on the secondary.
