Made it to the basketball game with a minute left in the half. Apparently the first half was lots of fun.

Guessing here shortly I'll watch Texas curb-stomp TTU (RIP Leach), and then when it's about 21-0 swap over to see the kickoff on the Civil War.

Texas up 10-7 on Tech heading into the 2nd Q.

If things get easier for the Longhorns as the game moves along, I'd look into resting key players on the Longhorns DL. Like T'Vondre Sweat and Byron Murphy. Sweat is especially effective at tying up the interior line blocking persistently enough to free up the LBs.

Going into a likely Big 12 Championship showdown with Oklahoma, Texas can't free their LBs for enough spy duty Vs Sooners QBs. Dillon Gabriel's feet was a difference maker against Texas back in October. And it seems there's a recent history of Oklahoma's QBs giving the Longhorns defense fits. Spencer Rattler and Caleb Williams did damage too.

With that said, I don't think Oklahoma automatically clinched a spot for next week despite their 69-45 win over TCU today.

Talk about twelving!  They twelved HARD!

Pretty sure they need an OkSU loss.

Just because the return man doesn't know the rule doesn't make it robbery.
You misapprehend my post, which is that the replay official doesn't understand the rule. In real time the entire Minnesota coaching staff understood the rule, the entire Gopher team understood the rule. One person in the stadium thought he knew better than everybody else, and he didn't.

When you play that many close games officiating is going to be questioned. After the 31 point loss Iowa had a two point loss and seven wins by:
  • 22 over RU
  • 10 over MSU
  • 9 over UW
  • 6 over PU
  • 3 over NU
  • 3 over UNL
  • 2 over IL
Absolutely. Individual plays, and calls, do matter more in close games. It is uncanny Iowa defeated so many teams with so little offense. Limiting penalties helps. Punting helps. QB sneaks even help.
Whichever opponent Iowa has in the Big Ten Championship Game, I don't see how Iowa can win. I would rather Iowa play Michigan because Marvin Harrison is unstoppable, especially with Cooper Dejean out for the season.

I figured PSU would beat MSU, but I didn't think MSU would get beat like that. It's like they didn't even bother to show up.

How many transfers is MSU gonna lose this year?

The only misinterpretation was by the on field officials not blowing the play dead as soon as the return man caught the ball.

Yup, that's the latest I saw as well.  OkState should win today so it's most likely Tx-OkState for the B12 championship.

I'd relish a chance to correct the error from earlier this season, but alas I don't think we'll get it.

You're right though, leading 50-7 at the beginning of the 4th quarter, Texas emptied the bench and played backups the rest of the game.  Tech has been a thorn in our side recently, so blasting them off the field for a change felt pretty dang good.

Also, if it comes down to style points and comparisons between Oregon and Texas, to get into the CFP, well there is one common opponent.  The Ducks beat Tech earlier this season 38-30, and Texas just beat Tech 57-7.  It might or might not help, but it can't hurt.
