I'm quite surprised at 3 posts I've seen on FB (so far) from folks I barely or kind of know about this event.  They seem borderline illegal, basically wishing it was not a miss, in rather vituperative terms.  I know a lot of folks are very hard core anti-Trump, fine with me, but this level of "discourse" was a bit of a shock, to me.

Live and learn I guess, fortunately I only have slight face to face interaction with one of them.  I always thought him a bit odd, but not this odd.

This is exactly my fear and here is a flavor of the response from the other side:

There's no prudent opinion other than to wish this didn't happen and to acknowledge that it's sad someone innocent died, but that the targeted person is just fine. 
A sadistic/troubled/evil person failed and that is good.
He is dead and probably deserves that. 
His politics are irrelevant, either way.  He chose to do something unconscionable and that was obviously wrong.

Trump was president when this guy was 13-16 years old.  He was obviously deranged in some way.  Hell, he was as likely to do this to impress a girl as any real, actual political reason.  Stupid/broken/out of his mind.  That's the only frame of mind a person could be in order to attempt such an act.
