Looking forward to hearing the Secret Service's explanation of how a shooter with an AR15 gets up on a plain white roof top just 140 yards away, and gets several shots off.  Never should have happened.

I cannot imagine any decent explanation for a lot that happened, other than "We screwed up badly."  We'll see if anyone is found deficient or culpable.

Often, the blame ends up so diffuse and vague no one really gets penalized except maybe the janitor.

a friend of mine, retired high school teacher, Vietnam vet was amazed at the lack of security on the campaign trail

He attended a campaign rally at our local small town high school gymnasium back in 2007 maybe?  I think Hillary was speaking on behalf of Obama.

no metal detectors. no pat down.  Just waltz in and take a seat up front 10-15 feet from the podium.
He thought it would have been very easy to carry in a handgun.

She was not a protectee at that time, except for a small group dedicated to families of former Presidents.  She may have had two agents assigned.

I see this as a minor event, since it was a minor injury

also, since this type of event happens rarely

I think we can learn from it and perhaps have better security going forward

 it's a sensational event for some folks obviously.  Not for me.

It was very nearly a successful assassination of a former president and current presidential candidate.  Like, 1 or 2 inches away from being fatal. I think that's pretty major.
