I know, I bought Monster cable, I think, probably some off brand version,  because the connections are more connected.

My wife turns the stereo on more often than I do now for her classical music feed.  When I was younger I had the stereo on in the car all the time, then I switched to listening to news in the car, then to OFF.

I have too much stuff I don't use now, including 2 telescopes, one larger and one for travel.  She usually backs binoculars when we travel.

I'm still looking at compact cameras.  Probably another item I won't use.

I usually listened to NPR driving to and from work.  They had a lady named Terry Gross that did some cool interviews, I recall one with Chuck Yeager.

We need a flight from Paris to Nice which sounds ... nice, but getting it done is becoming problematic for us.

I listen to nothing when I drive now. It's wonderful.

Don't get me started on speaker wire...

...again.

:96:

Yup.  Size matters.

Talking about gauge, of course.  Although experiments from MIT and elsewhere confirmed it, I knew in 9th grade that thicker lamp cord worked better than speaker wire.  It was cheaper too.

I had big Yamaha power amp, tuner, EQ, 5 CD changer and turntable, Infinity and Jamo speakers, Infinity sub, and monster cables.

Sounded great.

Now I have a Samsung soundbar and subwoofer.

Sounds great.

The quality of the source matters though.  Until I went back to a hifi system with dicrete amp, turntable, CD player, and quality speakers, I didn't realize how accustomed I had become to crappy streaming sound quality.  It's really night and day.

That's not to say that I don't enjoy using streaming media and bluetooth speakers and soundbar/satellite systems.  For general music and party mixes and whatnot, it's convenent and sounds plenty good.  But a few years back when I dragged out my old hifi stereo and started listening to it again, I realized just how far my epectations had fallen for high quality audio.  There's just no comparison.
