I'm hearing ATL is mostly sorted out on security lines, but the "news" is still variable, probably at times it gets long.

There was a group outside protesting ICE's presence, which likely doesn't help much with the crowds.  Getting folks dropped off there is an adventure at times.

I like to take MARTA but my wife does not.

John Wayne (SNA) is typically pretty easy. The only really busy time for security is if you're trying to catch one of the 645a flights...

Seems we are likely opting to drive instead of fly for our vacation in a few months.  We haven't been too impressed with the ticket prices, and I've estimated driving will only cost somewhere between a third and half of what the round trip tickets for 2 would be, even with higher gas prices and driving a truck that only gets 25 mpg.  There are some slightly cheaper tickets, but the departure/arrival times for those kinda sucked.  Plus with all the stuff going on with long wait times at the airport, it puts me off of the idea, since I physically can't stand in lines for long periods of time.  Big airports are something I try to avoid in the best of times.....when I start hearing about long wait times, that's a deciding factor for me.

It's a long drive, so we're planning to break it up across two days instead.  We'll stop in Memphis coming and going, at my mom's house and visit with her a little bit.

I was musing about some places in the US that basically overwhelmed me, where the actual was much better than expectations, and I think Zion NP would top that list.

I didn't expect anything tremendous, and I thought it was.

There are some state parks around I really liked, Calaveras SP in CA was very nice.  Some of the State Resort parks in KY are quite nice.  Tallulah Gorge SP in GA I like a lot, but I've seen it many times, so it doesn't really count.

The Shenandoah Valley is pretty neat I think.  Painted Cliffs in UP Michigan.  Beartooth Pass, want to drive that again.

The TSA line thing is overblown. The mediots find the worst possible and take pictures. I know plenty of people who have traveled recently without incident - during Spring Break, no less.

I think it's real in some situations with TSA "call outs".  And it might be a problem say at noon and not at 6 PM in places.

These days though, as you know, any problem is because of "X", whoever "X" may be.

Big Bend national park in west Texas is pretty nice.  Worth a stop if you're ever in the neighborhood.*

*you'd have to be deliberately seeking out Big Bend national park to be in the neighborhood.  It's a couple hundred miles away from... well... anything. ;)

I think Delta doesn't mind sticking it to assholes that aren't doing their jobs, yet are expecting lower-wage workers do theirs without pay.  I'm cool with that.
