MSP has always been a fortress hub. Hell, one of the reasons Delta merged with Northwest were their fortress hubs (Motown, Snowtown, and No-town).

The only drawback to that is that there is very little widebody flying out of here. They still run NW's old 757s a lot from here to anywhere in the US. The ones I can't fit into.

Cincinnati used to have a decent number of flights to Europe, but Delta basically pulled out and the airport is about a third of what it once was.  They only have one flight to Europe now (CDG), apparently for GE/CFM.

We flew to Miami for our cruise, MIA seems pretty nice and has a lot of flights to SA etc.

I had used a companion ticket and booked us in first, the flight down had Delta One seats for first.  I'd love to have that to Europe, but not for $7-8K.
Why is it called the Cincinnati airport if it's in Kentucky?

Will the Chicago Bears still be the Chicago Bears if they move their stadium to Indiana?

The three letter code is CVG which is for Covington, KY.

That part of Indiana is considered part of the overall metro, just as Arlington Heights is.

The San Francisco 49ers are still the San Francisco 49ers despite now playing in Santa Clara, which is basically San Jose.  Might as well keeping calling the Chicago Bears the Chicago Bears.

Yeah, the Atlanta Braves are outside the city of Atlanta now.  It's not unusual.

Speaking of airports, back when I was flying, the Cincinnati airport had grown into a Delta hub and was pretty large so it was reclassiied from Class C to Class B which significantly enlarged it's air footprint, the region where you could not enter without a clearance.  Most of us just flew around it, I once tried to get a clearance and was denied.  So, now it's MUCH smaller and less busy but still Class B.

I have heard of visitors thinking they were lost when a pilot tells them "Welcome to Kentucky." on landing.

(FYI, Class A airspace is just the region between 18,000 and 60,000 feet, not related to any airport.  You can't fly in it legally without being instrument rated.  There is a story about an SR71 requesting clearance to enter at 60,000 feet (FL60) and the clearance was granted if the plane though it could get that high and the SR71 said "We're descending.")

I think that state border is, to me, a pretty big difference.

But that's probably sensitivity to being at Purdue where people from "The Region" thought they were from Chicago whereas Chicagoans at Purdue thought they were from Indiana.

Heck, I wouldn't blink if the Rams were still called the St. Louis Rams and the Jazz were still called the New Orleans Jazz.  If we're gonna have a Big Ten with 614 teams in it from coast to coast......why not?

this is hyperbole and satire.  no need to argue with my "logic"

New York Giants and New York Jets.

They play in New Jersey.

Look at NW Indiana and the Central time zone. NW Indiana revolves around Chicago.
