I recall having a "tour" of Majorca that I wouldn't do again at all, they dropped us off at some pearl outlet, I forget what else we saw, it wasn't memorable.

Cruise tours have a tendency to drop one off at some business owned by a "cousin" or whatnot.  Actually, when we were in Havana, this was a plus, I think.

Majorca is a non-starter for me. Waste of a stop, is what I said at the time.

Supposedly "soon".  I forget when.  It looked finished when we were there except for a crane.  It is remarkable.

Barcelona was a neat city but somehow we never found a place with "great food", and one place we dined for lunch was mediocre.  At best.  We ordered paella and it tasted like something they had cooked last night.

I'm hit or miss in Europe with restaurants, maybe that is how it is.

Part of the problem was we stayed at a Hilton near the beach, and they had really good food free in the evening and "free" wine and booze.  So we only had lunch out.

chances of finding better than decent food at the top 10 most expensive restaurants in a city are high
I think Cincy is speaking of finding places casually and within the area

Yeah, my wife claims I have a nose to find great places, but I really miss fairly often in Europe.  I look for something "out of the way", meaning no tourists.  We found one in Sorrento that was memorable.  We walked all over barcelona one day, 13 miles total, and had lunch at a spot that was fine, outdoor dining etc., but I don't recall the food being exceptional.  The paella place was worse than average, probably too close to tourists.

I tell folks in Paris to walk away from the touristy areas until you stop seeing Americans and then walk another mile, and then start looking.  A neighborhood kind of place will likely be quite good, small with locals coming in and out.
