Some people just can't handle their liquor.

Other people can't function, liquor or not.

We call these people "the masses".

Alcohol is an interesting topic vis a vis its impact on human behaviors and health.

Costco peddles some pretty good wines.  I get most of mine from Tower because the price is close and Tower gives a 10% case discount.  The Kirkland brand wines of course aren't at Tower, and they often are superb values.

Adirondack Forty-Sixers

The Adirondack Forty-Sixers is a club whose members have successfully climbed all 46 of the traditionally recognized High Peaks of the Adirondack Mountains in New York. The first "46ers" devised the criteria for the club in the early 20th century, selecting only those summits that rise more than 4,000 ft (1,219 m) above sea level and have at least 300 ft (91 m) of vertical rise on all sides. Some take the challenge further and re-climb all the peaks in winter.

The European Union is preparing to implement two significant changes impacting how travellers enter Europe. These changes—the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) and the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS)—will affect travel to popular destinations like France, Spain, Greece, Italy, and Portugal.

If you’re planning a trip to Europe in the coming months, here’s what you need to know to ensure a smooth journey.

EU Entry/Exit System (EES)
The EU Entry/Exit System (EES) is set to replace traditional passport stamps with a digital system. This update means that whenever you cross a border into the EU or the Schengen Area, your movements will be electronically recorded.

Unlike the current system, which allows for unrestricted movement between Schengen countries after arrival, the EES will log each border crossing, making it crucial for travellers to be aware of their travel routes.

In addition to the EES, the European Union will introduce the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS). This will require travellers from visa-exempt countries to apply online before visiting Europe.

Similar to the U.S. ESTA or Canada’s Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), travellers will need to pay a fee of €7 (approximately USD 21) for a two-year travel authorization. While these changes are expected to be implemented in 2025, the exact timeline has not been finalized.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Is Nebraska a new tourism hot spot?

A new report from Visit Nebraska shows a major increase in travel, providing an economic boost.

Last year, out-of-state visitors spent $4.6 billion in Nebraska, an all-time record.

And since 2019, the number of overnight hotel guests has doubled, with 76% of them coming from out of state.

What happened in 2019? Visit Nebraska began a new marketing strategy that included ideas such as finding out what locations it should be promoting and focusing on attracting out of state visitors.

“Truly it’s just because people have been invited to the state in a way they understand, in a way that makes sense,” said John Ricks, executive director of Visit Nebraska, also known as the Nebraska Tourism Commission.

Ricks says to keep this growth going, it’s always going to be about getting the word out.

“The more people we make aware, the more people who are discovering that, ‘Hey, whatever I heard in the past isn’t true, and this is actually a cool place.’”

According to Ricks, despite the 2023 numbers just getting released, this year’s numbers are already beating last year’s by over 10%.

That's pretty cool. Had no idea about upstate NY until my early 20's when i got the chance to go up to Lake George a few time, which lead to exploring that area. Absolutely beautiful. A lot of cool, quaint little towns

Sitting in the Charlotte airport after a flight on a 737 from Omaha.

Reminds me how much I dislike flying.

After a mile walk to my next gate (which I don't mind) I'll wait over 2 hours for the flight to Walton beach.

Omaha and Charlotte airports tore up for refurbish construction.

Very full of unhappy people
