Plenty of souvenirs for FF here in Michigan.

One of those claims simply does not add up.

Tight Accommodations: Capsule Hotels

If a bed and a TV are all you need, try a capsule hotel. Developed in Japan in the 1970s, capsule hotels offer accommodations in modular blocks roughly 6.5 x 3.25 x 4 ft (2 x 1 x 1.25 m) in size. Capsules are typically stacked 2 units high, and luggage is usually stored in a separate locker. Used primarily by men, the hotels are frequented for their convenience and low price, often by those who missed a train or want to sleep off a night of drinking.

It was great seeing these three over the weekend. We will be going back several times between now and the end of the year.

I have some mild claustrophobia and these things look horrible.

It's been a federal parklands summer for me. As far as National Parks, I've been all through Zion, Bryce, Great Basin, and Grand Canyon north rim. Toss in a pair of National Recreation Areas with Lake Mead and Glen Canyon. Several National Monuments on top of that, Grand Staircase, Vermilion Cliffs, Gold Butte and Cedar Breaks. National Forests; Dixie, Fish Lake, Humboldt and Kaibab.

Awfully scenic up there on the Colorado Plateau.

suppose it's not "travel" so much, but every time I head to LA County it seems like quite a trek! So I'll post here...

We (wife, oldest son, and myself) went to go see Zac Brown Band and Kenny Chesney at SoFi Stadium on Saturday. First of all, it is a very nice stadium. Our first time there.

We had tickets on the field. If you can visualize pretty much any stadium tour, you know that stage is basically at one end of the field, probably around the 10-15 yard line. We had tickets at approximately the opposite goal line. Which are pretty solid tickets for a stadium tour, but still a long way away.

So we get there, and our row doesn't exist... They took out our row to make room for accessible seating. We're freaking out, but we go over to guest services, check our tickets, and give us a little envelope with new tickets/seats. Turns out (to keep the football analogy) our new seats are on about the 25-yard line closest to the stage, but offset so we'd be about on the sideline of the field rather than center. I'll take that upgrade any day!

Here's the view from our seats:

As for the concert, I'm not going to lie. Zac Brown Band stole the show, and I was fairly disappointed in Kenny.

ZBB had their own stuff, but also covers of Charlie Daniels' The Devil Went Down to Georgia, Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, Paul Simon's You Can Call Me Al, and Beastie Boys' Sabotage. All of which were fun. And their own stuff was solid. Granted, I'm a rock/blues guy (the wife/son are the country fans) so ZBB runs pretty much in the vein of country that's closest to my taste. But they had a great vibe.

Kenny was a little disappointing. Part of it was acoustics. While I didn't get this from ZBB, his vocals were fairly muddled and dominated by his band during the show. Maybe it was due to where we were sitting, but again I didn't get that from ZBB, so I don't know. It just didn't seem like he sounded right. And overall, it really seemed like everything he played sounded significantly worse than the recorded version. I also felt like he was "going through the motions" of just kinda playing all the hits as crowd service but didn't seem to be all that into it--even though he was very high energy. I suspect it was just me, as the crowd seemed to love him, but I found myself wishing it would be over... One might say I was "unimpressed".

ZBB is the best show I've seen. He did all of those you listed, plus Enter Sandman.
