In the next two months, I'll be in Boston, Paris, Seoul, and much of Asia.  Film at 11.

This is very Nice.

Nice is very snooty, my wife doesn't like going there at all.  St. Tropez of course is the same, but they do allow massive yachts in their harbor.  Truly massive.

I like Nice,  but it's definitely snooty.  Same is true for pretty much the entire Côte d'Azur.

Luckily my first time there I had locals to guide me to the best spots with the most authentic places and the fewest tourists, so when I returned a few years later with my i s c & a aggie wife, we really had a great time.

But of course, some of those spots are touristy because they're awesome, can't really completely avoid it.  Just have to deal with it.

I've mentioned going to Nice to the wife a few times and she's just flat said NO.  We have been briefly in the past.  I didn't get much of a take on it.

I do prefer smaller cities and villages in general, Saumur was quite nice I thought.  And they have the Musee des Blindes.

Bayeux was very nice.

This years travels are:

7 days in Hawaii in March.

In April/May, we will be gone 38 days. Cruise across the atlantic from San Juan to Lisbon.  On to Gilbrator, 3 stops in Spain, 2 stops in Southern France, 4 stops in Italy, 2 days in Egypt, 2 stops in Greece, Cypress, ending with a couple of days in Istanbul.

July a Carribean Cruise going because some friends asked us to join them.

August a cruise up the New England and Canadian coast. having family and friends from the area joining us.

also Have a trip to Oregon for one of my kids 40th birthday and a trip to Ohio for one of my kids wedding.

We made a decision when we retired last year to travel extensively for 2 years and then buy a couple of rocking chairs and get 2 cats and relax, then just making a trip or 2 a year.

We continue to talk about what to do after this rash in Asia.  We probably are "done" with Asia and will concentrate on Europe.  I also enjoy visiting local state parks around here a good bit, more relaxing and enjoyable without the travel stress of flying etc.

Going to go up to Avignon visit the palais de papes, the roman aquaducts.  Been there once before but that was 1977 I went on a tour of france with my French club while in High School, saw paris, avignon, Nimes, Nice, Monte Carlo.  Memories are fading time to renew them.  Did Paris last year, will hit some of the others this year.

The South of France is probably my favorite region in the entire world.  There are parts of Italy and Spain I love almost as much, but if I had to choose just one, it would be Southern France.

And like CD said, it's the smaller towns and villages that are the best.  You can still see truly authentic French living in those places, and the people are very, very nice.

We spent a week in Avignon with our "wine class" folks a few years back.  It was a good trip, we did day trips in a minivan driving out to various and sundry.

A really neat place, I thought, is the old mental hospital in St. Remy de Provence where van Gogh was housed for a while.  That sounds boring, but was excellent I thought.

Gorges was interesting as well, a lot of stuff around there of note.

I might even make the effort to go here

I found the ultimate sun-soaked getaway with 300 days of sunshine, warm seas, beaches, amazing food and a fascinating history
