May be a Twitter screenshot of 1 person and text that says 'Peter Burns @PeterBurnsESPN Record in @CFBPlayoff Games: SEC 14-5 Big Ten 3-5 I knew it wasn't close but I didn't think it was this lopsided. 6:20 AM. 12/9/22 TweetDeck'
*2 of those SEC losses were to other SEC teams, lol
12-3 vs non-SEC teams

UGA is doing their part, 3-0 (so far) against nonSEC teams in the CFP ... so far...

I'd note two of those games were razor close historic games ...

Bowls, as meaningless as they come across and for as poorly as they are attended, are nevertheless ratings monsters:

Bowl viewership ratings are in. In these days of cord cutting and streaming these are rather steep ratings for any sort of scheduled programming. The highest Cable News programming (Carlson, Maddow) rarely top over 3 million. Most of these Bowl ratings dwarf scripted sitcoms, regular season NBA broadcasts, and the late night shows. To think 2.5M stayed up that late on a weeknight to catch Wisconsin and Oklahoma St, or 2M viewers tuned into the New Mexico Bowl for BYU/SMU, many of whom lilely hadn't watched either team play all season, well, I find that remarkable.

It appears they do NOT include streaming viewership. These numbers were pulled from a "Top 150 Cable Telecasts" listing among programs like CNN Newsroom, Magnolia Table (Food Network), West Wing reruns (HLN), and Trolls World Tour (Nickelodeon), among others which wouldn't have coinciding streaming viewership.

Don't laugh at me for not knowing this, but how is data collected to show how many sets were tuned in to a channel/show/broadcast?

I know about Nielsen ratings, for example, but I have no idea how they do what they do and know what they know.

back in the good ol daze, Nielsen and others would actually call the household on the landline phone and ask what you were watching

these days with IP TV most companies can track all of the information

even coax systems that have digital set tops can be tracked

I'm sure streaming services have this capability, but I wasn't in that side of the business

Facebook, Alexa, Siri, Cortana, and Google are always watching and listening.  They know all.

They select a sampling of people and put boxes in their homes that track their viewership.

You might get paid for it? In any case, it'll all go digital at some point, and then that might be that.

so didn't know where to put this and just thinking out-loud....is Bama about to have a way down year in '23?

They haven't really attacked the portal and gotten difference makers like they did when they got Jameson Williams and Jahyr Gibbs in back to back off-seasons. Still early so we'll see on that.

They are losing what I think is by far the best QB that Saban has ever had in Bryce Young and the best defensive player he's probably ever had in Will Anderson Jr. Not to mention they lost their best OL to the portal to Miami. Not to mention they are also losing the one true difference maker they had on offense to the NFL in Gibbs.

Is Bama gonna stink next year? Ok, maybe not stink. Nick is too good a coach and there is too much talent to be awful. But this year was considered a down year for Bama- no trip to the SEC 'chip, no playoff appearance.

Could they be looking at 8-9 wins max next year?
