Bowl projections: Oregon, Georgia, Boise State, Arizona State headline first 12-team College Football Playoff - CBSSports.com

I dunno that this guy "knows" anything, but it's one projection.  We'll know soon enough.  Texas would seem to be positioned pretty well per the above, but I'm GUESSING Penn State ends up at 5.
I don't see how PSU is #5.  Hell, just compare them to OSU.  They both lost to Oregon, but OSU lost closer, in a true road game.  OSU beat PSU in Happy Valley.  And OSU stomped Indiana.  Yes, OSU has a bad loss, but they have 2 wins better than anything PSU has, including over PSU

I think the "logic" would be not punishing a CG loser in a tight game.  I agree that OSU-PSU on a neutral field would favor the former by ~5.  OSU dropped of course "lately" which matters apparently to the committee.  It's a mess really at 6-12, nothing is going to be clear cut.  I THINK Texas should be at 5.

I'm expecting Texas at #5, which would put us on the opposite side of the bracket from Georgia, so there'd be no potential second rematch until the final game.  I also expect they'll split B1G schools in seeding to avoid rematches until as late in the process as possible.

I think Texas would be favored handily over PSU and any other team in the running for that 5 slot, maybe Ohio State would be closer.  I agree that OSU looks better to me than PSU, but ... whatever.  The good thing, I think, is whatever they end up doing will raise a ruckus, especially if Alabama slides in at 12.

I'd probably go with

Texas
OSU
PSU
ND
Indiana
Tennessee
Clemson
SMU

I see the AP bumped the Dawgs to #2, which if one views the Tech game at half time shows just how tentative things can be out there.  They should have lost, would have except for some late game unusual plays that were controversial.  Had they lost of course they'd be pretty far down the rankings, but still with a bye top 4 seed in the CFP.

This is a VERY weird UGA team, you don't want to play them.

Georgia was losing at halftime yesterday as well.  Too bad games are two halves long.  Plus overtime, sometimes.

Being down 6-3 is "OK", being down 17-0 and looking really bad is really bad, being down 27-13 with 5:38 left in the game at home is usually the end.

I guess being down 6-3 without your starting QB isn't great either.

Stockton has stuck it out barely playing.  The former #2 left for Kentucky and unfortunately for him kind of disappeared.

Then Gunner (great name anyway) had to leave when his helmet came off and they brought Beck in for the final handoff, I'm not sure why Texas didn't stone him at the line.

This is weird Georgia, avoid them as long as you can.

Horns could have and IMO should have been ahead 17-3 at the half.  Unloading a shotgun repeatedly into your own foot, makes a difference, as it turns out.

I was thinking about what a very frustrating first half that must have been for Sark and their fans and players.  Weird UGA can do that, imagine how Tech fans felt late in that game only to lose in 8 OTs.

If Texas had won, this would have been a perfect BCS year.  But as it was, it would have been a shitty BCS and 4 team playoff year

Somebody posted that if the current SEC division less format had been around in 2012 A&M would’ve played in the CCG.  Not sure if that’s true, but I sure would’ve liked to see what that team could do in a playoff.  As I recall we finished ranked in the top 5 and smoked a Big 12 champion OU. ‘Twas a great year.
