UNC is the one that surprises me.  All of those other schools at the top had a coaching change

Stanford sitting pretty, but remember their grad transfer exodus 2 years ago.

Nebraska landed a verbal commitment from Ohio State transfer DB Tyreke Johnson, who is eligible immediately and has three years of eligibility.

Luke McCaffrey is off to the third school of his college football career. After leaving Louisville in early June, McCaffrey has a new destination.

The former four-star quarterback is off to Rice, according to Sam Khan Jr. of The Athletic. McCaffrey originally began at Nebraska before transferring to Louisville back in March.

Now, he has another fresh start at Rice.

I don't know this for sure, obviously, but I think Mack brought in an "intensity" in practice the players may not have been used to.  Some of them probably stuck it out a year or so and figured they weren't cut out for it.

Not official, but reports out that former five star linebacker from USC Palaie Gaoteote V is enrolled at OSU. Was rated the tenth best prospect in the portal by 247 last time I looked. Don't know a ton about him other than he has dealt with injuries in each of his three seasons at USC.

His younger brother flipped from USC to MSU, and was I think MSU's highest rated recruit.  There was some early speculation his brother would follow him, but one of our insiders reported back in May, he seemed pretty locked into OSU.

The perils of the transfer portal: Purgatory is a very real thing

https://247sports.com/college/nebraska/Article/College-football-transfer-portal-numbers-2021-166942564/?fbclid=IwAR3UuynkOy_Thwrq6Pt3BCnf76TtvhpcVwvH8PWD4kqrn0EfNv9Wh9YH0So

Of the 480 Power Five scholarship players 247Sports studied from the 2019-20 cycle, only 26.5% of them stayed as a scholarship player on a P-5 roster. Another 26.3% signed with a G-5 program. Overall, 47.2% of P-5 scholarship athletes went to the FCS, junior college ranks or did not find a landing spot. Among the 826 FBS scholarship players 247Sports examined, only 37.8% stayed on the FBS level.
