I never really understood why St Patrick’s Day is such a big deal. I’ll tell you the truth…I don’t even know WTF it’s about. I generally gather it’s more of an Irish holiday…and there are a lot of people of Irish descent here in the USA. It seems like it was a much bigger deal in the 80’s. You had to wear green at school, or get pinched.

St Patrick the patron saint of Ireland.  He drove all the snake off the emerald isle (according to legend).  Also he was responsible for the Christianization of Ireland.  This is the day they celebrate him.

St Patrick’s Day seems to encourage drinking more than most holidaze - I'd guess that's the reason it's popular
