It's a rather risky proposition to fire a coach who is doing "pretty well" when you think you should be in the title hunt nearly every year.  Not many programs can sustain that, and some that get tired of 9-4 find an FNG who ends up averaging 8 wins.

Take Florida, they are in a bind here already in Year 2.  I don't think the change it up, but Napier clearly is "on the clock".
need the coach first and foremost OBVIOUSLY.....but also need the recruiting base + facilities + booster/NIL $$$ base to truly be in the title hunt every year. only a handful of schools have that. 

probably only UGA, Bama, Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, USC, LSU, and Texas have that.

They've won SEC and MNC's under two coaches, both of whom will be in the HOF.

I didn't say they have the coach. I said they have all the other stuff. Coach comes first. But you're not being a yearly natty contender without all the other stuff as well.

Probably add A&M and Oregon in there, and subtract LSU.  LSU doesn't have the booster/NIL$ to compete in this new landscape.  I hope I'm wrong but the early trends have been terrible. 

The resources A&M has at their disposal makes their lack of accomplishments that much more perplexing.  I blame it on being a cult.

I have no idea if the Dawgs have major NIL monies.  It's probably at least decent.  They have upgraded facilities a lot over the past decade (the stadium is the same size, but improvements on collateral items).

Alabama actually doesn't have a large NIL program.  Right now they have tons of momentum, tons of history, and tons of Alabama players in the NFL, which are all still important to recruits.  

But going forward, it'll be interesting to see how well they can keep up.  NIL was always going to be a competitive disadvantage for Alabama which is why you've seen Saban so often in the news, either protesting it directly, or asking for severe curbs and caps on it.

Alabama not on the list, South Carolina is though.  Tenn leads it.  There isn't a ton of correlation between on field success and NIL ranking at this point.  UgA is "ethical" ....

14. Classic City (Georgia)
A registered LLC, the Classic City Collective does allow for Georgia boosters to donate. Run by CEO Matt Hibbs, the collective has prioritized finding outside revenue sources. A former football compliance officer at Georgia, Hibbs has helped secure corporate partnerships with Truist Bank, Apotheos coffee roastery and The Players Lounge. 
In the last week, the collective has become the first to launch software that offers short-form videos that provide original content while overlaying advertisements from companies. It could be a significant revenue stream for athletes who promote companies. 
Classic City has had to adjust on the fly like many in the space, but they’ve been able to do it at a high level.
“They’ve won back-to-back national championships, they don’t have to be the richest,” an SEC East competitor said. “They’re on it; they’re ethical.”

That's an old article, A&M 12th Man Foundation already had to abandon its NIL activities since it's actually part of the A&M athletic department.

Keep in mind this list is only naming specific collectives at various schools which it deems to be the "most ambitious."  Texas has dozens of various  NIL collectives, but the TexasOne fund is very large and very ambitious, so it made the list.

Yeah, it's from this summer, but it gives a general run down of the most aggressive ones

Yeah sorry.  It's not that old.  I should have said something more like "parts of that article have become very outdated" which would have been more correct and more specific.

I just found it fascinating that A&M thought they could run an NIL collective through the same organization that runs their ticketing which is officially part of their athletic department.  There are some murky areas in the NIL laws but that one is clearly a conflict of interest and in most states-- including Texas-- is explicitly named as being illegal.  And yet they still went and tried to do it.
