The good news is dinner was really good, tried a new place.  The better news is the concert was fantastic.  I was checking my phone for the best news during intermission, of course.

I thought UGA would win something like 34-17.  Bowers is back.

I haven't really watched any Florida this year.  Graham Mertz wearing #15 is certainly a choice
Florida's defense is as bad as USC's.
That is all.

Yes, more or less.  Iowa has clinched at least a tie for first place in the West.  Iowa still needs to win at least 1 of it's final 2 games to clinch the division outright and a trip to the Big Ten CCG.

Strangely enough I would say that both ILL and Neb still have realistic chances to win the West because they both have one of their 2 games left against Iowa.  Wouldnt it be bizarre if Illinois comes back and wins the division with their backup QB making all these great plays in the clutch?
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Iowa isn't anywhere near dominant. Their offense is so bad that they could lose any given week.

They are 5-2 and two games ahead of a five-way tie for second between:
  • Northwestern
  • Wisconsin
  • Minnesota
  • Illinois
  • Nebraska
Iowa beat NU and UW and lost to MN. In the event of a two-way tie, they would lose to all except NU or UW.

The number of teams that mathematically could tie for the B1G-W title is limited because a lot of these teams play each other:
  • NU/IL
  • UW/MN
  • UW/UNL
Iowa can clinch next week with a win but if they lose it gets interesting.

If Iowa loses to Illinois:
  • Iowa would still win with a win on Black Friday in Lincoln or losses by UNL (to UW, IL (to NU), and MN (to either tOSU or UW).
  • Illinois would get a share if they beat NU and Iowa loses to UNL.
  • UNL would get a share with wins over UW and IA.
  • UW would get a share by winning out and IA losing to UNL.
  • MN would get a share by winning out and UNL beating IA.
  • NU would get a share by winning out and UNL beating IA.
It is only complicated if Iowa loses out so all of the following assumes that and that the team in question wins out (because otherwise they wouldn't tie IA).
  • Iowa: beat NU, UW; lost to MN, IL, UNL
  • Illinois: beat IA, NU, MN; lost to UW, UNL.
  • Nebraska: beat IA, UW, NU, IL; lost to MN
  • Wisconsin: beat IL, UNL, MN; lost to NU, IA.
  • Minnesota: beat UNL, IA, UW; lost to IL, NU.
  • Northwestern: beat IL, UW, MN; lost to UNL, IA.

Coaching is also about fit.  I'm starting to wonder if Fickell at a P5.job is a bad fit.  That's not a knock.  I don't know that Kirby Smart could go to a Group of 5 school and reach a CFP (without his current clout).

Some coaches are good at getting elite talent to gel.  Some coaches are good at mining 2 star talent into something.  And levels in between.  Next year is a big prove it year for me with Fickell.  He was great at Cincinnati.  But he has massively underachieved in his first two seasons at the P5 level
Don't let the recruiting rankings fool you. The cupboard is bare in Madison.

They are very bad.

Also, yeah, we bag on Franklin a lot here.

Anyone want to talk about Lincoln Riley?

Riley has at least been to the playoffs a few times at OU and produced what- 3 or 4 Heisman trophy winning QB's?

What in the actual fck has Franklin ever done?

After yesterday it's obvious,if he was an army commander he would have gotten fragged. However excellent recruiter and i would retain him in that roll.Again if he is not fired at the end of the season his boss should be

I suspect Franklin may be nearing his exit at PSU, not quite yet, but another quasi-OK year might do it.  They beat the teams they should, usually, and then lose to the top two.  Is that enough?

This is why he reminds me of Richt.
