The Death Star Comes to Columbus (SOC Week 13)

Whew buddy, it's been a week at work. But it's also over, and on the way home I picked up some awesome dumplings from this bar called Cobra. Also got some squid ink pasta with clams and some fried chicken. All hitting the spot, as is this glass of wine.

We have a top five matchup between OSU and Indiana on deck, which is one of the weirder sentences I've written since joining this site. They are a heck of a good team, too. What Curt Cignetti has done deserves more props than the national media is giving them, but such is life. We all want the newbies until they show up.

Schedule

  • Purdue at MSU, Friday, 8 pm, FOX
  • #5 Indiana at #2 OSU, Noon, FOX
  • #25 Illinois at Rutgers, Noon, Peacock
  • Iowa at Maryland, Noon, BTN
  • #4 PSU at Minnesota, 3:30 pm, CBS
  • Northwestern at Michigan, 3:30 pm, FS1
  • Wisconsin at Nebraska, 3:30 pm. BTN
  • USC at UCLA, 10:30 pm, NBC
Others
  • #9 Ole Miss at Florida, Noon, ABC
  • #14 BYU at #21 ASU, 3:30 pm, ESPN
  • #16 Colorado at Kansas, 3:30 pm, FOX
  • #19 Army at #6 ND, 7 pm, NBC
  • # 15 TAMU at Auburn, 7:30 pm, NBC

Headed out to Stadium Brewing with my wife for a date night dinner. Forgot entirely that Purdue had a football team game tonight.

Kids are home for the evening and we're gonna watch Planes Trains & Automobiles tonight.  I've taken all of next week off so I'm officially in vacation mode.  The Pecan Porter is delicious!

Chicken Francese With a side linguine after a Caesar salad.  NY cheesecake to follow.  Basil Hayden Bourbon over one large ice cube.  Watching Purdue v MSU.   A fine Friday.

Got home. DDD was left on for the dog (he's a foodie). Swapped to Fox. Purdue was down 17-3. 30 seconds later, Purdue was down 24-3. Back to Food Network and DDD.

Jesus.  That's why PU is 1-9.  Wide open.  Dropped.

I made "Mexican spaghetti" last night, sans the noodles, I served it over rice.  I had a leftover batch of "melange de legume" that had onion, garlic, Brussel sprouts, and celery and mixed that with leftover hamburger I had seared on cast iron skillet the day before, added diced tomatoes and chili powder and more garlic.  Had a glass or three of Kirkland brand pinot noir from Russian River, that's another very solid Kirkland wine IMHO.

Then I woke up this AM before 5.  I used to really struggle to get up to go to work.  Now I'm up when I don't need to be.  I guess on the other end I'm going to bed at old people's time also, though it was after 11 last night.
