They mentioned, however, that if your opponent is only averaging say 3 yards per rush, it becomes *REALLY* difficult to beat that by much.
Yes, especially nowadays.
Only the very best run defenses in a given year are below 3.0 for the season.
I set the bar at 2.8 ypc allowed to get the highest run D rating in Whoa Nellie, and there have been recent seasons in which only 1 team in the nation did that well.
There hasn't been any seasons where no one has, though.  I'm glad about that.
