That's good news, even if it's not the best news.  Try to enjoy yourself some - even go through the motions - it might help.

Got the tree up and the deck lights all done. Definitely therapy!! It feels nice in here now.

Gonna make scallops and a filet mignon tonight for me and mine. Oysters for starters. Different, but still nice.

good to see the Cowboys fail miserably

Alton Brown is simmering at 350 in the oven

Green beans, white taters, gravy, rolls, all staged and ready to roll onto the table

My wife did it all this year. Turkey (no stuffing), cranberries, cooked carrots, and -- well I did the smashed potatoes. We had our 22 year old daughter, and her boyfriend whose family left this area. Then we traveled to Holy Cross (Iowa) and met up with about 50 or more extended family members of my wife at a rented school building. Men played cards. Women talked and put out food. Kids played in the gymnasium. Temps in the 50s in Iowa today. It was a great day.

The entire meal turned out very nicely.  pure luck

the AB turkey was as advertised.  Juicy and full of flavors.  More flavorful than any turkey I've had.  Even the injected deep fried birds I've had in the past.

the little bit of work was worth it.

and I will also add, the scratch made sweet taters in the crock pot were amazing

I enjoy cooking and my daughter's pitch in when they arrive which makes for some good fun, but you are lucky to have a Cindy

leftovers are one of the best reasons I don't travel to Lincoln or Iowa City the day after.....

yes, I could easily pack some turkey sammiches, but I prefer may turkey sammiches smothered in turkey gravy.

Usually some leftover wine, liquor, and beer in the fridge as well.
