My wife has made it a few times lately but she doesn't go with just one recipe.  She typically looks at a few difference recipes and then picks and chooses what she likes from there.

I rarely if ever follow one recipe - even stuff from this thread

I usually take bits and pieces from 3 or 4 recipes and combine them

I've always been lucky

My i s c & a aggie wife has been watching that TV show called "The Bear" and was inspired to attempt making homemade Italian beef sandwiches for dinner tonight.  She's looking at some recipes that claim to be "authentic" so hopefully they'll turn out alright...

I don't know how that show is considered a comedy. Yeah, it has some funny moments, but I never think of it as a comedy.

It's excellent. Highly recommend. Won an Emmy for best comedy series which I don't agree with (for the above reason that I don't consider it a comedy) but the quality of the show is certainly Emmy-worthy.

And it's on FX, which should be available on most cable packages.

BTW would definitely want a follow-up on how this went. With pictures if possible.

Do you have a meat slicer?

That is a must for Italian Beef. Can't do without it.

I buy extremely rare roast beef from the store and then make my own gravy to heat it up in. It's about the best I can do. Finding the right bread is also tough.

Nope, no meat slicer.  And the follow-up is that the sandwiches tasted great.  Sadly no pictures.

Had no choice but to do without it.  I have a handful of very sharp knives and with something like 35 years experience I'm pretty good at slicing beef.

I doubt I had "the right bread" since I don't even know what that is.  But it looked like the Portillo's roll I see in pictures and it tasted good, so that's about all I could ask.
