Some Vette owners claim to get 30+ on the highway, I think that is speed related. The EPA says 25, which is pretty good for that much power.
I like the explanation about how hybrids work above. Ours is ... interesting, I find. I often look at the dash to see if the engine is running or not, I usually can predict it now, otherwise the noise change is very subtle. I have sat in a parking lot waiting for my wife with the AC running and the car is in EV mode, so the motors are turning "stuff" up front to keep the AC running. After a while the engine will kick in. It's kinda fun to go down a long hill with my foot off the gas just after filling the tank, the mpg figure will climb to 99 at times.
It is NOT very efficient above 80 mph on a flat freeway though.
