Nobody could sit behind me, but I didn’t care.  It was my get to work car.

A few more years and the kids getting out of the house, and I won't have to worry about anyone sitting behind me either.

Yeah it's weird to think about my needs changing so much in the next few years.  When the kids are out of the house, I'll have no need for a large RV trailer.  We still plan to RV but we'd either go to a smaller trailer which would open up more options for the tow vehicle, or move to a motorhome style RV which eliminates the need for a tow vehicle at all.

Our boat is stored in a marina so I don't need a trailer for that either.

So for the first time in 30 years, it's possible or even likely I'll have no need for a truck or SUV at all.

THEN what do I get...?

That is some luxury. What does something like that go for?

The Sprinter you can get for $100K, for a nice used model. I've seen them even lower.

I don't worry about anyone sitting behind me in the Vette

can't even put a golf cap behind the seat without smashing it.

Yup $100K for a used Aistream/Sprinter in good condition is pretty normal.

That particular one I linked is probably close to a million but I was also going for effect. ;)

There are ones in the $400K-$500K range (brand new) that are still pretty damn lux.

Woman cherishes vintage Chevy Cameo she's driven for 55 years

https://www.ketv.com/article/vintage-chevy-cameo-pickup-truck/70825068?utm_campaign=snd-autopilot&fbclid=IwY2xjawQur0ZleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEeq3yayGl09IvmyRWfHmeLUUlsm3wjl42js8OYTl6GRljYiBiYPX5eIAKNRp4_aem_Oi7ZjUz2PFWRAJVDm7oatw

Lupe Gutierrez of Albuquerque, New has been driving her cherished 1958 Chevy Cameo pickup for 55 years, a vehicle she and her husband acquired in 1971 for $900 from a friend in need. Known as the "Cadillac of trucks" in its day, the Cameo was Chevy's first attempt at a luxury truck, with only a few thousand produced annually in the mid-1950s, making it a rare sight today.

"They used to call this the Cadillac - in those days - of trucks," Gutierrez said.

Originally blue with white trim, Gutierrez and her husband painted the truck silver about 15 years ago, but it remains in near-perfect condition. The Cameo features a highly desired wrap-around rear window, a 283 V8 engine, and a "3 on the tree" manual transmission, making it ideal for towing.

"We put a tear drop on it...and off we go! And it's pretty comfortable, and it does attract attention," Gutierrez said.

The truck and trailer, adorned with Route 66 tribute artwork, offer sleeping accommodations for two and cooking amenities, making them perfect for exploring New Mexico's Mother Road.

"We wanted to do the Route 66 thing, but maybe just in New Mexico," Gutierrez said.

Gutierrez has turned down countless offers to sell the Cameo, planning to eventually pass it down to her daughters. With the new trailer, it's hard to know how many more miles they will go.

Auction sales for "mint condition" Chevy Cameo pickups typically range from $80,000 to $120,000.

I love this.    A trip around the US.   My better half hasn’t seen any of the west.   Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Tetons. Yosemite.   Official retirement at the end of this year.

Do it!

But be warned, I'm not sure you can find a Sprinter B-Van with an SRT Hellcat in it. ;)

Does Benz make the engines for those things? If so they could probably be tuned to get more out of the high output power plant.
