All I know is that my wife wanted a basic SUV, so I went and got one (Equinox).

Smart.

She didn't want the one I wanted for her (GLE).

I think there should be more classes of vehicles.

I don't think I'd want to drive a ZR1(x) on the streets. Maybe, I would if offered of course, but to push it at all? Nope.

I still surf looking for Mustang GT convertibles at times. They aren't cheap.

If given one, I'd take a few test drives in the ZR1(x) and then trade down to a Z06 or wait and trade for the upcoming Grand Sport

In seriousness....as a marketing major a bazillion years ago, I know there's a lot of research on customer brand loyalty. I wonder if there's been any on customer disloyalty, i.e., brand hatred. If not, it seems like an interesting topic to get some data on.

I think the car loyalty thing is quite parallel to the team loyalty thing. Why are you an "X" fan? Because of parents, birth, being a student, something.

Why are you a GM guy? Because your Dad was (usually).

I was a GM guy way back, as was my Dad. I had a GM credit card which yielded some large discounts at times. I had the Chrysler minivan of yore because nobody else made one comparable in 1988. That thing ran forever with few glitches. I changed my own oil and spark plugs etc. Four cylinder, easy to work on, single point injection.

I went back to GM after that, a Buick, a Caddy, another Caddy, then the GTI. My wife wanted something fun, I wanted something fairly practical. It was both.

Now the little sport ute thing which is ... pleasantly boring.

I owned a Ford Pinto briefly, it was pretty much junk I thought. I bought it off a friend who was given a poor tradein value and sold in a month later.

Oh yeah for sure. That's why I'm amused by it. I guess my parents weren't really brand-loyal when it came to cars, and so I didn't inherit any of those biases. All of my impressions are first-hand from my own experiences, and in my experience, the "Big 3" are all the same.

I was a GM guy because that's what my Dad always had.

I actually tried Plymouth and Ford, was disappointed, and went to Porsche. Then Volvo and then M-B.

Now, for me, it's "the best, or nothing" (as they say).

I think most brands today are quite good, maybe Stellantis lags. Find the vehicle to match your needs and choose it on color or whatever you like. Sometimes one interior can be more to your liking than others.

The Koreans are making solid vehicles these days if the car mags are to be trusted at all. Hyundais of course used to be .... well, not great.

We only have 12,000 miles on ours after two plus years.
