Yep. Maybe I need to see it from another angle, but the lines just look wrong.

Looks like it's a wagon/hatchback. Still looks wrong.

If you think you hate it now, just wait 'til you drive it!

Probably needs a new tranny

I replaced the 2-speed powerglide in mine with a 3-speed turbo hydro

Rented a 2024 Kia Sorento with 20,000 miles on it for a week in the San Fran area.

wasn't sporty - 4 cylinder was gutless
It handled well, down the PCH is plenty curvy and hilly
it was plenty roomy for luggage and 4 adults

the bells, whistles and knobs/touchscreen to use them were frustrating
not just for the old guy, my daughters and son-in-law didn't like it

we didn't take the time to read the manual or watch a youtube video - we were on vacation

while I'll probably never own an oriental vehicle, I was curious how I would like the decent sized SUV
It was OK, not a sedan but it would work for hauling golf clubs

Been through the process now that the Jeep is lifted that I installed new minimalist fender flares and replaced the Rubicon rock rails with aftermarket that include side steps... Gotta help out the wife and kids with ingress/egress now that it's lifted (and moreso when I get the bigger tires).

Next steps:

  • New front & rear bumper. Looking to go "stubby" as the minimalist fender flares with full-width bumpers looks a bit silly.
  • New rear tire carrier... The standard is fine for the stock wheel & tire, but once I get 35's it won't be.
  • New wheels and tires... A lifted Jeep on 32" tires just doesn't look right... Gotta get on 35".

Unfortunately, I've been having an unrelated issue... The sound system is cutting out. I suspect the amp is going into protection mode for some reason. So that's going to be something I need to work on. And sadly when dealing with electrical/audio stuff like this, the problem is that there can be a lot of "gremlins" involved--you think you've found the root caused and solved it but it keeps cropping up and teaching you that whatever you fixed/replaced wasn't actually the issue.

So... That's gonna be "fun"....

Disagree. It doesn't matter how slow it is if you drive it like a rented mule.

I recall when I was first in CA and trying to keep up with someone in my 1985 Chrysler LeBaron Turbo... I kept up, and after the fact the guy said "I can't believe you did that in THAT car."

The problem with REALLY fast cars is that you can't scare yourself until you're WAY out beyond your own abilities as a driver that it gets really catastrophic, really quickly. 95% percent of people won't drive a supercar fast enough to scare themselves because the car can handle anything they throw at it. 2.5% have the skills to drive it that fast, and do, and live. 2.5% TRY to drive it that fast, don't have the skills, and the cars (and the drivers) end up mangled af.

I've always said "It's a lot more fun to drive a slow car fast than to drive a fast car slow."

And Mario Andretti famously said, "If it feels like everything is under control, you're not going fast enough."
