GM Did Not Think the 2025 Corvette ZR1 Could Reach 233 MPH (roadandtrack.com)

While Reuss completed the record run, Barber also broke the 230-mph barrier in another attempt. Surprisingly, he describes it as a fairly uneventful experience, adding that "it just feels like you’re going pretty fast on the highway." Thanks to a 1064-hp twin-turbocharged V-8, a stable 230 mph in a straight line is simply what the ZR1 does.

After 53 years, one of NASCAR's most durable controversies has come to an end.
Hall of Fame driver Bobby Allison has been declared the winner of the 1971 Myers Brothers 250 at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C., the stock car racing governing body announced Wednesday afternoon.
"NASCAR CEO and chairman Jim France and vice chairman Mike Helton visited Allison on Wednesday to inform him of the recognition," Zack Albert wrote on NASCAR's website.
The race—the final Cup Series race to date at one of racing's most hallowed venues—had officially had no winner for 53 years. The lack of resolution sprung from a dispute over the make of Allison's car, a Ford Mustang that was perceived to give him an unfair advantage over competitors on the quarter-mile track.
In '71, NASCAR briefly experimented with races involving both Grand National cars and the pony cars of the short-lived Grand American series. The Myers Brothers 250 was one such race, and Allison's pony-car victory left runner-up Richard Petty fuming.
Petty filed a complaint with NASCAR that resulted in Allison losing the victory. Regaining it allows him to move ahead of Darrell Waltrip for sole possession of fourth place on the Cup Series's all-time wins list.

According to LSX Magazine, a dealership in Idaho has what will almost certainly be the last manual transmission Camaro ever sold new.

The specific Camaro is the final-year ZL1 Collector’s Edition, limited to 350 units, and features a Panther Black Matte exterior color – the first matte paint offered on Camaro from the factory. This package also features the front splitter and the rear wing from ZL1 1LE finished in carbon fiber, a black metallic ZL1 stripe, red brake calipers, and black wheels to complete the exterior look. On the inside, all 350 Collector’s Edition ZL1 vehicles received a serialized steering wheel badge representing where that vehicle was built in sequence.

We pulled up next to e Vette yesterday (my wife driving).  She commented on how low it was and how egress for us would be a chore.

she's very perceptive and probably doesn't want you to have one

She would let me have one, she just would rarely ride in it.  She was interested in a convertible 7-8 years back.  The GTY had a sunroof which we almost never opened.

Trips are either short and quick or long on a freeway, in the main.

I mentioned before the sportiesrt semi-practical car I would consider is the Mustang 5.0 convertible.  Maybe I'd look at the Toyota offering, or the BMW, but that Mustang looks pretty nice, and makes good noises, and has a manual.

ISeeCars.com has just released a report that analyzes fatality data from model year 2018-22 cars, and the Corvette ranks as the second most dangerous car on that list with fatal accident rates nearly five times higher than the average vehicle. We worry about that rating even more after the 1,064-horsepower Corvette ZR1 debuts on the road sometime next year.

ISeeCars came up with the most dangerous list after studying car crashes resulting in at least one occupant fatality.
