last weekend in a 55+ community in Summerfield, Florida, according to a report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

An “existing feud” apparently existed between an unidentified 72-year-old Corvette driver and his neighbor in the Spruce Creek South community, 63-year-old Kenneth Michael Lewicki.

The Corvette driver admits that revving up his engine was “a sort-of brag” as he passed by the home of Lewicki on Sunday afternoon.

The 6-foot-5, 290-pound Lewicki didn’t like what he heard, apparently so much so that he drove to the Corvette driver’s home and confronted him, where he alleged knocked him over onto his motorcycle.

Reporting that he’s had “multiple surgeries” on his back, the victim was worried that the rods in his back had been shifted out of alignment by the impact so he was carried by ambulance to UF Health Spanish Plaines Hospital in The Villages.

Lewicki told authorities that the Corvette owner had been “harassing” him and his wife, calling the revving of the car’s engine Sunday afternoon the last straw that led to the confrontation.

Charged with a felony count of battery, Lewicki was released from Marion County Jail after posting $2,500 bond.

You probably would have gotten long odds that one of the last two cars with V8s and manuals would be a Cadillac back ca. 1975.

The V75 Liquid Tire Chain was a rare 1969-only option for most Chevrolets (excluding wagons and pickups). It featured rear nozzles that sprayed a traction fluid onto the tires, improving grip on snow and ice. Though short-lived, this unique system added safety and innovation to winter driving, making it a prized feature among collectors today.

I wonder what that "traction fluid" was made out of?  It was the 60s, not too many folks worried with pollution and environmental impact back then...

Liquid Tire Chain Was Pure GM Innovation (motorious.com)

Liquid Tire Chain was invented/developed by the Dow Chemical Company and sold by them as an aftermarket aerosol spray can. It was a major event when Chevrolet agreed to add it as an accessory. Chemically it is a polymer (Styrene butadiene latex) dissolved in a solvent (primarily methanol).Dec 20, 2019

I just assume that back then that any solvent brainstorm session started w/ "hey boss what are we gonna do w/ all this extra lead lying around?"

I once had a joint project with Shell Chemical in Houston.  They told me they had extra "butadiene" laying around, often they burned it for fuel.

This stuff is basically synthetic rubber dissolved in methanol, apparently.  The methanol would melt some snow and maybe the SBR would soften the tire rubber to make it grippier in the cold.  It's a neat idea, I had never heard of it before.

The current winter tires are quite good for cold weather traction, partly due to using a softer rubber compound.
