I knew my SF agent in Cincy personally, which helped a lot.  I could call him up with questions and get straight answers.  I had some claims, one major one when my basement flooded.  So, when I moved in with my wife, I called him to get a quote on home/car insurance and it was through the roof, BECAUSE I had had a large claim.

On a different house.  He said it didn't matter, so I went with my wife's insurance.

The Camaro had been the quicker of the two the day before at the drag strip, turn­ing standing start quarter miles in 13.77 seconds at 107.39 mph. The Mustang wasn't exactly a stone either, covering the same distance in 13.96 seconds at 106.13 mph. Just for comparison, the Ferrari 275/ GTB-4 we tested (October, '67) was ca­pable of 14.5 second quarters at 100 mph and the 400 hp, 427 Corvette (May, '68) was good for 14.1 seconds at 102 mph.

For you personally in your daily driver, what is your upper limit on 0-60 times for a car you bought (or leased), above which you'd rule it out no matter other features?

For me, I'd say 7.5 seconds, and yeah, an 8 second car that fit my other needs really well would be OK, so say 8.

What would I practicably like?  Faster is better of course, but I think faster than about 5 seconds is acceleration I would never need, and would rarely enjoy.  And there usually is a fuel economy tradeoff unless it's an EV.

I saw some ad about lowering my car insurance by 8000% or whatever, so on a lark, I applied.  I think it was through Costco so there was some inkling it might really be cheaper.  It was more than double my current rate for the same insurance.  I laughed when the guy asked me if I wanted to switch.  I have no idea why it would be so high.

I'm not saying Progressive is a great deal, I suspect they are pretty much on par with any of the majors.

the AC repairman that replaced the fan motor noticed my sporty car in the garage

Ford guy - he & his son built a Mustang to over 1,000 hp.  He said it was quite drivable on the street

Good guy, should retire, he's 70 and still working - owner of the HVAC company - his daughter and my oldest graduated HS in the same class
