hah, wait till the REAL Big Red retakes their rightful position in the B1G

that'll piss him off
1 win since 2011 isn't gonna piss me off, nor will it make UNL Big Red.

UNL is a mere pimple on Big Red's considerable ass.

and what are we gonna do with my stat?

use it for profit?  alert the press?

"small town Western Iowa Man has COVID"!!!

buy up all the masks and toilet paper!

it's very mild - not gonna bother this old man
I am not sure how predictable this was, but I find it interesting that this deadly virus sort of went the way of the 1918 flu, which diminished over time. There were differences because the 1918 flu was more deadly to younger people, whereas older people had some apparent immunity from a prior flu spread.
One might conclude that if a deadly virus in humans wants to survive, it should become less deadly to its host, in time. Nothing is a sure shot, though.
This summer my 90-year old mother shook the virus with nothing more than coughing spells, and my mid 50s sister-in-law still treating for breast cancer shook it off, as well.

Well, looks like there's enough new COVID news to bring this thread back to the top.

With the shifting regulatory climate (i.e., antivax ratfuckery), Moderna has withdrawn their application for their eagerly anticipated COVID-flu combo vaccine. This vaccine offered better protection than getting each shot separately.

I'm curious as to truly how "eagerly anticipated" the new combo vaccine was, and I'm also curious as to why Moderna would withdraw this vaccine simply because the US Federal government is no longer pushing for those under 65 and with no additional risk factors, to take it.

If it truly is so "eagerly anticipated" then surely there's a market enough for it, to be profitable?

As we saw from the excerpt from the NEJM study posted on the other thread, most of Europe are only recommending the vaccine for 65 and up.  So only the USA market, propped up with a questionable one-size-fits-all vaccination strategy, was going to make it worth their while?

My guess is they withdrew it because the new testing protocols are more expensive.  The "market" for COVID vaccines has dropped markedly as well.

I would be fine with two separate injections anyway.  Needles today barely hurt at all.

I am not seeing any COVID steps being taken to "protect the public".  I dimly recall filling out some form to enter Singapore, but nobody checked it.
