I've self tested twice, maybe three times, when I was feeling a bit odd, negative each time, if that means anything.

I recall only one moderate cold since 2020, I usually get one a year or so.  A doctor friend told me he had COVID a couple years back and his throat was so sore he resorted to taking pain killers (opiates).  It seems to induce a very wide variety of symptoms.

My 90-year old mother recovered. As did my 65-year-old sister, and my 29-year old daughter, this past week. Mom and my sister saw an ARNP who said the virus was usually not causing severe health problems. My daughter missed 5-days from work as she is a healthcare worker for the VA. She returned to work 7/15/24 after testing negative in the morning.

The "science" actually isn't too bad here, what the media report as the "science" is predictably horrible and misinformation.

Then you get the political spin.

Well, the title is hypothetical, a "what it", describing actions that were not realistic.  I didn't take much from it beyond a comparison of states unadjusted for all sorts of factors like racial makeup, age, pecentage in urban areas, etc.
