I'm trying not to drink every night after work and during my evening meal.  I can do it unless my meal consists of something that just pairs too well with beer.
Like pretzels/pizza/roast pork and scalloped potatoes/burgers/brats/ribs/brisket/buffalo wings/.............

Yeah, back to the hard stuff.  Still waiting for one more tax statement,  but unwinding with a drink as I tidy up my materials for the preparer.  Despite taking a few heavy duty tax law classes some time ago, pretty convinced I would commit malpractice if I did my own these days.
Well then they'd give you two choices - go to the slammer or run for congress where those abilities can be better utilized

I was going to ask him...

Are there actually meals that don't pair well with beer?!?!

I used a preparer when still with my ex, because she had started that business which made taxes a lot more complex. Even when she no longer operated it, we stayed with that preparer.

Now that I'm shed of her, I do my own via Turbotax online. My taxes are extremely simple. The hardest bit is going through capital gains, because some of my stock sales are acquired via an employee stock purchase plan and some from restricted stock unit [RSU] grants, and the RSU show up on my primary tax documents as $0 cost basis. So I have to go through all the supplemental info to get the adjusted cost basis for taxes.

But since I don't have enough deductions to itemize, that's about as hard as it gets.

true, we could both add to the list

trying to cut out 4 to 6 beers a night was more about dropping 10-20 pounds than the health of my liver

last night I had boneless skinless chicken breast with some wing sauce, fried taters, & peas
the wing sauce almost required a beer, but I was strong

I prefer wine in general of course, but I think some meals go a lot better with wine than beer, but I can't think of anything that won't work with beer of one sort or the other.  Carbonation often obscures flaws in a beverage.

That is the main reason we have sparkling Champagne.  They do make some still wine in Champagne, but apparently it's not very good.

I've never found any.

A very austere white wine can pair very well with steak in my view.

Eggs, does beer go well with eggs?

Yup, I love a Negra Modelo with some migas.

But the beer thread is over there----> :)

Never got into it, really. It chews through your wallet, makes you overweight and bloated, deteriorates your health, impairs your ability to operate a motor vehicle, slows down your brain function, makes you look and act ridiculous, makes the next morning suck (for a myriad of reasons), all for the most overrated buzz on the planet.

I wouldn't pair wine with eggs either.  Does beer go well with pizza?

I've been told, that in Europe, wine pairs with everything and is a part of every meal, even for children

I've been in France, en famille, and this isn't true of course.

I sat in a bar in one small town while the wife shopped for art down the street.  I had wine, the guys around me drank Coke, seriously.  Their DUI limits are 0.4% as I recall.

More bistro than bar.
