Yeah, if you are giving me the outcome, I'll take a win over a blowout loss any day. But in the real world you don't know the outcome, so I'd always take the at bat in the CFP as an extreme underdog over being heavily favored in a NY6 game.

That sounds right, before the fact.

Reminds me of 2015, where OSU got to blow out Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl, while MSU was getting pantsed by Bama in a National semifinal.
Bama would have pansed anyone that season

Considering how MSU pansed OSUs offense, the Bucks might have scored negative points against Bama.

It might not be all that difficult, but it's still fun. Sorta like defeating the Wolverines.

Especially when the only alternative is getting blown out by an SEC team in a National semifinal.

I mean, come on. The choice is obvious.

Notre Dame has done a great job of being blown out in both BCS finals (by the SEC) and CFP Semifinals (by the ACC).

5-14 record, with wins in the Citrus, Sun, Hawai'i, Music City, and Pinstripe Bowls only.  9 of the 14 losses were blowouts (by more than 2 possessions), including twice to Oregon State.

Plus they refused to play in a bowl game after firing Weis or Willingham or whoever it was.

Blowouts in highly watched games suck, and they stick with a program for a long time (unless the Program is Alabama and is enjoying one of the most dominant decades of college football ever). Wins against good teams give warm fuzzies that get you through the winter and all the way to the season opener.

So, unless the program is the current version of Alabama, I'd much prefer the high quality win.
I feel like I'd take a playoff trip or two, even if it was a bad outcome. But I also haven't had any playoff trips.

I think as a UW fan, any playoff trip would be seen as an outlier. Like even if UW took OSU's 31-0, Badger fans who aren't stupid would say them's the breaks. I dunno if I'd rather beat 10-3 Washington, though I suppose I'd rather win in the Rose Bowl most of the time.
