Night games have been normal in many places for a long time (LSU among them), but in most of the country, college football games started at 1:30 PM during Daylight Savings Time and 1 PM during Standard Time. 

On this week 41 years ago, September 18, 1982, the lights were turned on at Notre Dame Stadium for the first time. This was the highest profile deployment of Musco Lighting's portable lighting trucks. These trucks would be a big factor in the addition of starting times in most of the country over the next 20 years, from 11:10 AM to 7:30 PM. 

Fitting, perhaps, that this weeks features a night game in South Bend against the Ohio State Buckeyes. This is both the best offense and best defense that both teams have seen.
