Paid cash in February 2020 before Covid messed up the markets for a few months.

Financed when the interest rates dropped like a rock during Covid and got back into the markets before they exploded.

Pure luck.

Welp fellas, I told my boss last week that I was interested in retirement.  I have no idea what happens now.  I know they are actively cutting manpower, such a weird place to be to actually want to get the hook.

I had a relative who held off for years and kept complaining they wouldn't give him longterm projects.

The pandemic hit and he was like "I'm just gonna suck this up until I get severance," which he did.

My wife did that.

I have made more money in the stock market since retiring that I was making on salary, I think, might be close.  Most of it is tax deferred, I've been getting the usual Facebook ads now about how to convert to a Roth and pay no taxes because I saw one and clicked on it, of course, it basically was a scam, just wanted my personal information for more ... you know, so I bailed.  I did google the concept and got a couple ideas, but of course there is not legal way not to pay taxes.

One tactic is to pay taxes out of my regular accounts, which I need to look at more, but my regular accounts get populated by IRA withdrawals, so there is that.

In other news, I had a basil carcinoma removed from my chest Thursday.  I had a notion this would be pretty minor, the doc would cut out a bit here and sew it up with 203 sutures.  The cutting out part was about right, the sewing up part was much more involved than expected, I asked him about it all.  Meanwhile, I'm hobbled a bit on my left side, which is limiting as I joined an over 55 baseball league and need to be getting into shape rather quickly, or at least not getting out of shape.  I'm still doing eliptical, that's OK, but can't run yet.  The doc said two weeks before I should throw or swing.  Meh.  This league looks pretty neat, they have 12 teams, 45+ and 55+.  I went to three workouts with some of the group, I can hang with the older folks.

The other kind of odd thing is I have what he called a mole quite near the BCC that looks pretty similar to me.  Anyway, the good news is the wound is healing pretty well nearly as I can discern, I change the dressing daily.  I could post a photo of it, but won't.

My wife is at pilates, again, she was lamenting how cold it is, she left wearing a heavy winter coat.  It's 60°F, I took the garbage out in shorts and a T shirt.

Glad that was caught and addressed!

I've never been to France, but since it's further from the equator than most of the US, I would've thought it to be a relatively chilly place.  And that your wife, being French, would mostly laugh at our "cold" weather.

Northern France gets cold, southern France not really.  We visited Verdun (northern) in December and it was around freezing with light drizzle and sleet, not fun, but very interesting.  Visiting France has a lot to recommend it, especially outside Paris.
