Just spent last weekend in Kansas City with my globe hopping middle kid. She's paying $2200 a month for a 2 bedroom Air B&B at 33rd street and SW Trafficway. From Zillow, the neighbor to the South was built in 1912, North 1910. So I'm guessing they were working their way South from city center and hers was a 1911 model.
Wonder how the values tanked once they turned her front street into a 6-lane LOUD throughway. Sad, because the homes themselves are pretty darn cool.
Fearless is probably the only guy here that would ever venture there, but, anyway:
Got to go to the famous Q39 barbecue joint. The sides were great--I had baked beans and fire roasted street corn--but I'm here to say I like brisket cooked on my Traeger in the backyard better. My burnt-ends/slices plate was $28, with 2 sides. The pork belly appetizer was great, but it was small for 4 people to share.
Q39 Midtown | Kansas City Barbecue Restaurant in MidtownAnother night we went to an Italian place, Cupini's. Strange to stand in line like you're at fast food, but the food was very good. Had to break the rule and cut some of the wide noodles (forgot the name, not on the website menu), getting one whole one on the fork was more than a mouthful. Did the carbonara and meatballs. Had a pitcher of sangria, 4 meals and a whole baguette, and a couple pieces of carrot cake to share, with tip was
only $107.

Home | Cupini'sIn between was Taco Bell after the Pitbull/Lil John concert at the fantabulous new Morton Amphitheater, which holds 16,000 capacity. Also hit the Renaissance Festival. Not my thing, but man, the freaks come out of the woodwork, so there is some interest in that way. Not very many Hottie Thread worthy views, even though a lot of chests were on very prominent display.
