It was confusing overall for me as well, which is one reason I just ordered their daily special.  She had leftovers aplenty.  Anyway, lesson learned.  I think they should redo  their ordering, but the place is packed, so maybe I'm wrong.

The French place we like has lunch for $15, something with a soup or salad, pretty solid deal.  The offer quiche or some kind of thin pancake stuffed with stuff.

Talladega Nights - Crepes
Yeah I'm cool with the French quesadillas as well.

Talladega Nights - Crepes
Wrong thread, but that is the kind of useless drivel that I am happy to rewatch just about anytime I need to tune out from the world for a bit.

Yeah, around here we have Heritage BBQ, which is a place I'd actually feel comfortable taking utee to... So I obviously hold it in high regard.

My wife and I have been there once, and we MAJORLY over-ordered. Part of it is that there's a line on the weekends--even in the "winter"--so we spent a decent amount of time in line drinking :singing:

But it was also that we wanted to try so many things that we simply ordered way too much. We ended up taking some home and got leftovers out of it, but leftover BBQ, while good, is never the same as fresh.

I'm not going to say how much we spent when it came down to lunch plus [alcoholic] drinks for two, but your "over $100" ain't even close :57:

Yeah I've openly admitted to having some extremely tasty BBQ in California, I know it exists. It's when I was working for AMD and it was somewhere within 1/2 hour of our Sunnyvale office.  Wish I could remember the name of that place, I'd love to check and see if it's still around.

Yep, and I openly admit that most California BBQ sucks. Usually "mediocre" is a win.

This one is different.

Well next time I'm in the OC I'll give you a call and we'll check it out. :)

I really loved all the time I spent working in Newport Beach, it's been at least a decade since I've been back.

I'm in Kansas City - thinkin of hitting my favorite BBQ spot - Q39
but, thinking I really should try something different
traffic sucks so maybe I'll just try the spot that's closest to the Holiday Inn

I thought Newport Beach was too cold for you :57:

But yeah, if you show up, we can wait in line and I'll buy the beers.

Well I'm guessing that the rare times he'd be here, I can afford whatever they stock as the most expensive red for the duration we'd be in line...

I definitely grew up drinking Big Red with BBQ.

But for the past few decades it's more about the beer.

I thought Newport Beach was too cold for you :57:

Too cold for sure, I had to trade in the convertible after a week, and that was in July.

But I'm not talking about moving there, just visiting.
